once you have your cream in your blender - set it on your counter for approx. 3- 3.5 hours and let it warm up to 62F... this is the optimum temp to get the most yield... yeah you can get butter at fridge temp you just won't get as much. Use a digital therm... YMMV is based on how warm or chilly your room is... for me - 3.5 hours is about the sweet spot - if it's a little warmer or colder that's okay...
use a turkey baster to suck out heavy cream - put it in a blender
Blend on low for 3 -5 minutes, when butter separates from whey - you'll hear the blender sound like it's bogging down
take the blender and a spatula and hold the blob of butter while you pour off the whey into a bowl... it will seem like it will continue to drain...
dump butter blob into a different bowl
take a fork and mash it around and continue to pour off whey into whey bowl.
butter will begin to stiffen up
next - wash your butter - pour in filtered water... take fork and mash and mix the butter (like you're smashing a baked potato) The water will turn milky - I normally pour this down the drain since it is diluted
(I pour the whey in the bowl back into the gallon jug and shake it up)
Keep adding new clean water and smash and mix until the water you pour in doesn't get milky - generally about 4 or 5 washings.
Continue to "knead" with a fork and continue to get any drops of water out by tipping the bowl and letting it drain out
Next - salt for taste... be careful not to overdo it. Put a shake of salt in and mix with a fork - continue to taste it and add a bit more until it tastes good
Since fresh butter does not have preservatives if you don't eat it the following week - dump it in a mason jar and stick it in the fridge... I just keep adding my new butter into the mason jar... When I need butter to, say, for Brussel sprouts, broccoli, etc, I grab the mason jar, remove the lid, pop it in the microwave for a minute - it will begin to melt from the outside - take a butter knife and run it down the inside of the jar against the glass - make a "path" for the melted butter to flow out... pour it on you food, you might have to mic it for an extra 30 seconds at a time to get what you need. When done, pop it back in the freezer...

I was able to purchase 10 23-gallon plastic containers for only $5/ea (Thanks Brett) I had tons of free concrete blocks from Craigslist. I used 12 blocks (4 stacked two wide - two high) at both ends and one in the middle.
I did have to purchase 2 12' 4"x 4" posts to get the desired length. I used a laser level to level the blocks. Once this was done the posts put the top of the container at the Same level all the way down the length of the run. This allowed me to install 4'x4" posts as supports for two ledger boards (ran horizontally) The ledger boards were free salvaged 5/4" deck boards. This allowed me to use 5/4" as a top rail and put the lip of the container flush atop the rail. It worked out perfectly.
The static wicking beds are constructed as follows: PVC pipe and or Black field drain piling cut to length to fit in the bottom of each tub. This allows water to flow into the bottom of each container (I used the chop saw to cut grooves into each pipe so water can easily fill the area.
Next, I used Hydroton clay pellets I acquired when I purchased an aquaponics system (6 UBC totes and all the plumbing and 6 huge containers of clay pellets for $140 - a great buy) I covered the pipes with clay pellets.
Then I used some construction fabric (I assume it is used to dry in homes) I picked up for free when I scored on all the concrete blocks) I used this as a barrier between the pellets and the soil mixture.
Then I added a soil mixture which was made up of compiost, peat moss and vermiculite (this is the recipe the square foot garderner uses) then top if off with wood chips as a mulch. I used a vertical piece of PVC in each tub as a watering tube. I plan to hook up a timer for my water hose and create a manifold system so I can automatically fill all tubs every few days (or as needed)
Each Container will have a weep hole drilled just about the level of the fabric barrier so tubs won't overfill and drown the plants.
As this project is still in process, I plan to add some sort of wicking material that will penetrate the barrier and run up into the soil area in order to wick the moisture up into the growing area. I'm sure the roots of the plants will not have any problem finding their way down to the moisture.
The footage was shot with my DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone on Hyperlapse mode. It was two different videos edited with Camtasia and annotations added. May 7th, 2019

This is the first generation using 5 gallon plastic buckets. Using plastic softdrink cup as a filter. It takes a bit more labor to make but it does work fairly well for plants
