Kreg 720 Pro vs K5 Pocket Hole Jig Comparison & Detailed Review 1 Year On
12 months ago I was given the new Kreg 720 Pro Pockethole Jig to take a look at by Kreg Australia. Now after a year of use and testing, I can answer the ultimate questions "Will the 720 pro replace my beloved K5 Master System?" and "Which Kreg Jig should I buy today?"
This is not a sponsored video and my opinions are my own.
In this video, I deep dive into both tools' strengths and weaknesses, show off their features and share a few tips I've picked up along the way.

It's time for Part 2 of Sydney's Shoddiest Shipwright: The Raoul! A wooden #boat restoration project to save an old workhorse from rot.
Last week I told the story of how I got here, being asked to do some #carpentry for the Woolwich Marina in Sydney. That was just a highlight reel of the actual #woodworking so today I've gone into detail about the challenges and processes of building a large boat deck in the garage and then fitting it to the boat.

Routing a slot for the coins to travel down should add noise and movement to turn a boring old moneybox into a fun game for the twins. Time for some geometry and basic assembly as the 2 main elements of this build come together.

This week I'll be staining wood for a client for the first time and have read that without sealing the wood first, you can get blotchy and uneven results. To counter this I've invested in some Feast Watson Grain Filling Sanding Sealer from Bunnings and decided to put it through its paces on a few different hard and soft woods to see what sort of results I get and if it is worth the money. As a cheeky hack I also decided to test the sealing abilities of PVA glue as a cheaper alternative.

These basic Kreg jig and dado shelves simple drawers are my first attempt at such things (as usual) and will complement the similar style cabinets from last month. They mark the second stage of my workshop reno and will allow me to get better organised for future projects. Super fun build this which I made almost entirely from scraps and offcuts.
Big shout out to Kreg Australia... you'll see why about halfway through!

Inverting a jigsaw to act as a mini bandsaw is the second thing I am adding to my Multi-Function Table. It again takes the form of a quick-fit inset, but this time with a standard corded tool.

Building a router table was one of my first DIY woodworking goals. I haven't seen many suitable for a cordless router so I designed my own based on ideas stolen from several YouTubers. This is the first enhancement to my Multi-Function Workbench and takes the form of a quick-fit inset. More to attachments to come!

My old Bunnings Craftright Combination Square was in need of replacement so I decided it was time to finally try out #Bangood like every other maker YouTuber. Squares are an essential @The#woodworking tool, and they sent me 2 to #review, the DrillPro combination square and a little 4" Machinists Square. One is great, the other is rubbish.
Honestly, they also gave me affiliate links, but I don't believe either of these products are really worth the time delivery takes when you could get them locally. As I am required to do so for accepting these products you can see them here. Perhaps check out some of the knock-off red Wood Pecker things, they are not bad apparently, but not for me:

To finish the moneybox I decided to inlay some coins in the face and use spray polyurethane for the first time as I couldn't find WWMM Steve's favourite spray lacquer! This completes my first 'non-shop' project and while not perfect, I was a very proud novice at the end. Better yet, the twin loved it. Winning.

Building a basic wooden kreg jig frame to fill a gap above my garage door and increase security was meant to be a fairly simple build that I didn't even plan to film originally. However it became a constant exercise in problem-solving (as usual) and I hope there is something there you can take away from it if like me you are trying this for the first time.
