Shirley Temple Black remembers when she was just plain Shirley Temple and the most highly-paid child star in Hollywood. However, she was to discover that her father and agent had seriously mismanaged her finances, leaving her with only $44,000 out of an expected $3.5m. Shirley Temple Black was appointed US Ambassador to Ghana under the Ford administration in 1974 and US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia under George Bush (Senior) in 1989.
