Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are now tied with 40% of the vote each according to a new NYT/CBS poll. The new numbers reinforce a trend for Trump of a gradual surge in other polls as he begins to look more and more presidential and Clinton looks like a robotic, smooth-talking liar. The poll sampled opinions from over 1300 voters between July 8 and 12th. July 8 was the day FBI Director Comey testified before Congress. In the past, the New York Times / CBS poll has been among the most skewed against Trump. The last poll done by this group showed Clinton with a 6 point lead. The poll measured opinion on several other questions. When asked which candidate was distrusted more, Clinton negatives were higher at 67%. Trump’s distrust number was 5 points lower. On the economy, Trump held an 11 point lead over Clinton. On the question of trade with other countries, Trump led by only 1% - 47 to 46%. On terrorism and national security the poll laughingly found both candidates tied at 46%. And the most outrageous finding was on the question of illegal immigration, where the poll found Clinton leading Trump by a 48 to 45 margin. Lastly, when asked if they had a positive or negative view of the candidates, Clinton’s positives sunk 5 points from 33% last month, to only 28% this month, while Trump’s positives rose from 26% last month up to 30% now. This number alone should cause sleepless night in the Democrat camp. No matter how they try to spin it – no matter how they fudge the numbers - this is heading the wrong way fast. Ted Cruz’s big victory in Texas last night was actually a terrible showing by Republican “favorite son” standards. In fact it the worst showing by a Republican candidate in his home state since 1913.
Yesterday, Cruz won 43.7% of the vote, beating out Trump by 17 points. However, Republicans over years have shown fierce loyalty to home state
candidates, on average giving them over the last 100 years 78.5% of the vote.
According to Eric J. Ostermeier, writing in the Smart Politics blog from the Univ. of Minnesota’s School of Public Affairs, Cruz’s victory:
“…avoided an embarrassment that might have pressured him to withdraw after Super Tuesday. While Cruz escaped that unenviable situation, his victory in Texas is decidedly shy of impressive."

A Federal judge has ruled that Indiana cannot cut off payments to President Obama’s secret ongoing Syrian refugee resettlement program.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt issued a 36-page decision yesterday which will force Governor Mike Pence to continue funding social and other welfare assistance programs for the Syrian Refugee Immigration Program.
“[Pence’s order] clearly discriminates against Syrian refugees based on their national origin,” said Judge Pratt.
Pence joined 12 other states in cutting off funding for the Syrian refugee program after the Paris attack and the San Bernardino attacks.
The case resulted when the ACLU filed suit in November on behalf of Exodus Refugee Immigration.
Gov. Pence’s reaction came on Twitter at 4:52pm yesterday afternoon:
[insert]
“As Gov I have no higher priority than safety & security of Hoosiers. During these uncertain times, we must always err on the side of caution. For that reason, I suspended participation by the State of Indiana in the Syrian refugee resettlement program and I stand by that decision.”
Pence has instructed the state to continue the fight:
“I’ve instructed the [Indiana] Attorney General to seek an immediate stay [and] appeal of the Syrian refugee fed court decision.”
According to WND:
“The Obama administration admitted in December that Islamic terrorists may infiltrate its Syrian refugee program – and then told Americans their concerns were overblown.”
Obama has taken to Twitter to push the refugee program in similar fashion to German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
[insert]
This refugee program will be the albatross of both the Obama and Merkel’s legacy.
This one issue is why I completely changed what I do on this channel. This secret program is the single most important issue facing Americans today.

No one is sure exactly what Hillary and crew have been hiding on her private server, but we ARE about to find out.
Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan is completely fed up with Hillary Clinton’s lies and footdragging. He has ordered Clinton and two of her top aides to produce all State Department-related emails by Friday, Aug. 7 under “penalty of perjury”.
Judge Sullivan is reminiscent of Judge John Sirica, without whose bravery, President Richard Nixon’s lies would have gone unpunished in 1974.
It has been Judge Sullivan who has slowly cracked open the IRS scandal and last week threatened to hold not only IRS Commissioner John Koskinen in contempt of court for not producing Lois Lerner’s emails, but even his Justice Department attorney.
There is no question that for the first time, Hillary may be held to account. Yesterday, the Washington Post – usually a staunch Hillary defender – opined that Clinton:
“… could very well face criminal penalties. If that happens, her presidential ambitions will be over. Because it’s hard to serve as commander in chief if you’ve been stripped of your security clearance.”
That’s why Vice President Joe Biden is suddenly being rolled out as a late entrant in the presidential race.
This is the same Joe Biden who in a recent book about the Secret Service was shown to relish humiliating female Secret Service agents by swimming in the nude in front of them.
The Dems are desperate. Hillary has possibly managed to once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

In another major development, Fox News owner and fellow billionaire Rupert Murdoch has tweeted that the Republican Party should coalesce around Donald Trump quickly if he is the nominee.
“As predicted, Trump reaching out to make peace with Republican “establishment”. If he becomes inevitable party would be mad not to unify.”
The landmark announcement means Fox has finally realized that the war with Trump must come to an end. Murdoch tweeted earlier this week that Republicans should:
“close ranks to fight real enemy.”
Bottom line: despite the fact that tonight’s debate could turn out to be a rematch between Trump and Megyn Kelly the politically savvy expect a much more respectful debate this evening with huge ratings.
Holding my breath.

Five days ago, I showed a graph of Donald Trump’s favorable/unfavorable numbers from a tracking poll compiled by the Huffington Post.
This poll showed that Trump was still at only 34.6% favorable vs 54.7% unfavorable. I said that when these lines crossed, Trump would be a viable national candidate – in other words he could win.
I also predicted that at this rate, Trump would hit that turning point in October. Silly me.
In a head-to-head matchup against Clinton, Trump – once behind by 24 points - is closing fast, but… according to a new CNN poll of 1,001 registered Republicans, Trump’s favorables are now overwhelming – favorables are now at 58% vs unfavs at 38%.
But look at this breakdown of the data. In older polling, Trump has lagged in gaining the confidence of women voters. Not now. Trump’s favorables among women hit 60%, 3 points higher than among Republican men at 57%.
These numbers are causing the press herd to turn. Mark Halperin, the senior political analyst for Time Magazine reported on MSNBC Monday:
“…we’ve reached a turning point with Trump, the major establishment campaigns of both parties now think Trump could win Iowa, and most of them think he could win the nomination, and a significant number think he could win the White House.”
Halperin walked with Trump at the Iowa State Fair on Monday. He has been there with Obama at his peak and many other candidates:
“…people were yelling things to him with passion. ‘Save us,’ ‘You’re the only one who can stop Hillary,’ ‘Thank you for making America great again.’ “
“Save us!” Did you hear that? “Save us!” That’s how desperate Americans are for good government.
Arise sleeping giant. Throw of your chains. The whole world is watching now.

Donald Trump is crushing all opponents in the post-debate online poll.
With over 55,000 votes cast online, Trump is blistering the field with 8 times as many votes as either Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio.
In fact, Trump has exactly twice as many votes as ALL of his debate opponents combined.
The New Hampshire primary is next Tuesday, 2 days from today.

Good evening, I’m still reporting on Poltergeists.
I’ve never, ever done a ghost story before, but this one is just too confirmed to let slide.
On the evening of August 8, and lasting into the morning of August 9th, Scottish police in Glasgow were called to the home of a woman and her son who had a severe poltergeist problem.
Upon arrival, the police saw the family Chichuahua levitating and clothes flying across rooms.
One source interviewed by the Express – a British paper – said:
"These were incidents that were witnessed by our own officers. Incidents that are not easily explained.
"But officers with more than 20 years' service are saying they've never seen anything like this.
"It really is something that down-to-earth police officers are having trouble getting their heads round.”
Another insider said;
“The officers witnessed the lights going off, clothes flying across the room and the dog sitting on top of the hedge.”
The woman and son have fled the home in the South Lanarkshire area, and have not been named.

So yesterday was a dark day in the history of the Iowa Caucuses. Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg of FoxNews concluded that some Ted Cruz dirty tricksters may have manipulated the Republican caucus to steal the victory from Donald Trump.
On the Democrat side, Bernie Saunders is not letting up on the coin-toss caucus, and now he is joined by the most important newspaper in Iowa, the Des Moines Register, which called for an audit of the Democratic caucus results in the strongest possible terms. The editorial reads in part:
“What happened Monday night at the Democratic caucuses was a debacle, period. Democracy, particularly at the local party level, can be slow, messy and obscure. But the refusal to undergo scrutiny or allow for an appeal reeks of autocracy.”
“The Iowa Democratic Party must act quickly to assure the accuracy of the caucus results, beyond a shadow of a doubt.”
“First of all, the results were too close not to do a complete audit of results. Two-tenths of 1 percent separated Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. A caucus should not be confused with an election, but it’s worth noting that much larger margins trigger automatic recounts in other states.”
“Second, too many questions have been raised. Too many accounts have arisen of inconsistent counts, untrained and overwhelmed volunteers, confused voters, cramped precinct locations, a lack of voter registration forms and other problems. Too many of us, including members of the Register editorial board who were observing caucuses, saw opportunities for error amid Monday night’s chaos.”
“The Sanders campaign is rechecking results on its own, going precinct by precinct, and is already finding inconsistencies, said Rania Batrice, a Sanders spokeswoman. The campaign seeks the math sheets or other paperwork that precinct chairs filled out and were supposed to return to the state party. They want to compare those documents to the results entered into a Microsoft app and sent to the party.”
“Let’s compare notes. Let’s see if they match,” Batrice said Wednesday.
“Dr. Andy McGuire, chairwoman of the Iowa Democratic Party, dug in her heels and said no. She said the three campaigns had representatives in a room in the hours after the caucuses and went over the discrepancies.”
“McGuire knows what’s at stake. Her actions only confirm the suspicions, wild as they might be, of Sanders supporters. Their candidate, after all, is opposed by the party establishment — and wasn’t even a Democrat a few months ago.
Break silly party tradition and release the raw vote totals. Provide a list of each precinct coin flip and its outcome, as well as other information sought by the Register. Be transparent.”
So between the potential for Microsoft manipulation and the State Democrat Party doing whatever they can to muddy the waters for their own purposes, the Dems side of the Iowa caucuses looks completely broken.
