I know TwoSet already did it. But did they really?? Here's an exclusive peak into what I consider to be one of the best violins in existence, and probably the best I've ever tried: The 1714 Antonio Stradivari (Stradivarius) violin "da Vinci, ex-Toscha Seidel". Thank you to Jason Price of Tarisio and violin maker Andrew Ryan for taking me along for such a ride, just before this violin is sold and 'floats away'. This video was filmed June 7, 2022 (before the end of the auction). The violin has since sold for $15.3 million!
In this video, I'll demonstrate different excerpts to try to highlight the qualities of the instrument. Also, Jason Price will go over some history, and Andrew Ryan will analyze the qualities of this instrument and explain some elements of acoustics, varnish, and craftsmanship that make this instrument so special.
Toscha Seidel is one of my great violin heroes. His sound was an early inspiration for me, and it's a real privilege to feel his spirit through this instrument. Collecting and digitizing his recordings was the original purpose of this YouTube Channel!
