"In a June 2013 interview, former Al-Qaeda member Sheikh Nabil Naiim stated that in his view, the leader of the Al-Nusra Army in Syria, Mohammed al-Julani, was a CIA operative. In addition, Sheikh Nabil Naiim stated that the leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman Al Zawahiri, was a US double-agent. According to Sheikh Nabil Naiim, Al-Nusra and Al-Qaeda were being used as tools by the Americans."

In the 1980s, he led the Safwa al-Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan, where he met Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaeda fighters. In the 1990s, he moved to Sudan together with bin Laden and al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. Sheikh Nabil Naiim was involved in the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat in 1981 and was imprisoned for a failed assassination attempt against President Hosni Mubarak in 1995."
