► Beneath the streets of London, a dark mystery lies hidden in the depths of its ancient tunnels. Official history claims the construction of the Thames tunnel in the 19th century was a marvel of modern engineering, but was it truly built, or did Marc Brunel and his team simply rediscover and adapt a far older subterranean network? Floods, collapses, and eerie delays haunted this project, raising the unsettling possibility that these passages belonged to a long-lost civilization. Could the London Underground be part of a buried past, repurposed in secret?!

An alliance between Mormons and Shoshone Indians put the non-Mormon residents of Corinne on edge. Concern over an alleged uprising by the alliance shook the town to its foundations. In 1875, fears of an armed uprising by Shoshone Indians swept through the small northern Utah city of Corinne. The area on the lower Bear River surrounding the town had been a traditional winter camping spot for the Shoshone, so when members of the tribe on Idaho’s Fort Hall reservation faced the very real possibility of starving due to dwindling government resources, they set out for the Bear hoping to meet up with some of the Shoshones still in Utah and to find food among the Mormons. They were soon joined by hundreds of other Shoshones and Bannocks from Idaho and Wyoming who had moved to northern Utah seeking conversion at the hands of Mormon missionaries. Apparently, the Latter-day Saint notion that American Indians were part of the chosen Israelite nation appealed to the Native Americans.
The idea of a Mormon-Shoshone alliance, along with the mounting flood of Indians into a camp near their town, set the residents of Corinne on edge. As historian Brigham Madsen has pointed out, Corinne was the informal Gentile or non-Mormon capital of early Utah, and there was no love lost between the townspeople and the surrounding Mormons. The Corinnethians (as the citizens of Corinne sometimes were called) feared the Mormons were inciting the Shoshones to envelop their settlement and massacre them. Fears eventually led some men to break into a shipment of Army weapons to protect themselves, while other citizens wired the governor for troops. Soon federal soldiers were dispatched and made their way to the supposedly besieged city. Within a matter of days, everything had quieted down around Corinne. The Army never found any credible evidence that the Shoshones camped on the Bear planned to attack the town.

Hoytsville is also the site of the Hoyt Mansion, considered by the Summit County Historical Society as "one of the most elegant 19th Century homes still standing in Utah today."

From Wikipedia:
In 1859, Thomas Bradberry and others settled along the Weber River in the area of Hoytsville. The settlement was first known as East Plymouth. During the Utah Black Hawk War, the settlers united to build a fort for protection, the foundation of which is easily identifiable in Hoytsville today. The settlement was subsequently named Unionville. In 1863, Samual P. Hoyt built the first flour mill in Summit County. He also ran the local post office from his house. The settlement was renamed Hoytsville in his honor.
The Mormon chapel in Hoytsville is the site of Historical Marker #37 of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, which was erected on August 27, 1938. The plaque reads:
"OLD FORT AND HOYT GRIST MILL This monument is near the site of the old fort, 300 ft. So. West of here. It was on Old Emigrant Trail. Route also used by overland stage and part of Johnston's Army going East in 1861, to participate in the Civil War. The fort was built during the Black Hawk War in 1866, on advice of Pres. Brigham Young to Bishop Winters. 25 families moved their log cabins there. Centrally located it provided protection for families, livestock and grist mill. The mill was the first in this county. Built in 1862 by Samual P. Hoyt."

Huntsville was founded in 1860 by Jefferson Hunt.An LDS ward was organized there in 1877 with Francis Hammond as Bishop, and he was succeeded in 1885 by David McKay. This David McKay was the father of David O. McKay, later president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Trappist monastery, the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity, was established there in 1947, and closed after 70 years in 2017. The Shooting Star Saloon, one of the oldest bars west of the Mississippi, is located in the town. It opened in 1879.

~Cathedral of the Madeleine~
The cathedral was built under the direction of Lawrence Scanlan, the first bishop of Salt Lake City, who dedicated it to St. Mary Magdalene. It was designed by architects Carl M. Neuhausen and Bernard O. Mecklenburg. The exterior is predominantly a Neo-Romanesque design, while the inside displays more Neo-Gothic details. Construction began in 1900 and was completed in 1909. It was dedicated by James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore.
The interior of the cathedral was created under the direction of Joseph S. Glass, the second bishop of Salt Lake. Bishop Glass enlisted John Theodore Comes, one of the preeminent architects in the country, to decorate the interior of the cathedral. His plans for the interior were largely based upon the Spanish Gothic style. The colorful murals and polychrome were added at this time, as were the ornate shrines. In 1916, Bishop Glass also changed the name of the cathedral to the French spelling after visiting her purported tomb.
~The First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City~
The First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City
is a Presbyterian Church congregation in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was founded in 1871. From 1874-1905 the church met in a building at the corner of Second South and Second East, which has since been demolished. The current red sandstone building was constructed from 1903-1905.[1]
The current church building is in the Gothic Revival style and was designed by architect Walter E. Ware. The design was patterned after Carlisle Cathedral in Carlisle, England. The exterior was built of red sandstone quarried from Red Butte Canyon. The stained glass windows were created by R. T. Giles and Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The original organ was built by the Bennett Organ Company of Rock Island, IL and dedicated in a 1906 concert featuring renowned organist Clarence Eddy.[2]
The current building was first occupied in 1905, the congregation substantially enlarged, renovated, and modernized it in 1956
