This is using an Audio-Technica ATR30 dynamic microphone. My Icom 7300 first impression overall is this is a fantastic little SDR transceiver. However, I have had it less than one week. Hopefully nothing major creeps up in the future. At this time I don't have any complaints.
Mic: Audio-Technica ATR 30, Mic Gain 70%, COMP 5. SSB TONE: TX Bass +2, TX Treble +5. TBW: 100-2900
Thanks to Gary W9GWZ, Bob N9ORD, Andy WB0OAF and others on the Breakfast club!
Andy WB0OAF made a recording of the audio using the above settings and the Audio Technica ATR 30. You can hear it here: http://www.k0pir.us/files/K0PIR.mp3
I was lucky enough to have DM780 ready for the RTTY contest over the weekend. I didn't make many contacts but it was fun trying hi hi.
A few days later I made some casual RTTY QSO's on 20 Meters and had a great time doing so. HRD and DM780 is a pleasure to work with and so much fun using RTTY FSK.
See my website www.K0PIR.us for more information on setting RTTY FSK setup.
Enjoy the Christmas tunes!
Best wishes, 73 and good DX. - Rich, K0PIR

Yes we can use hubs connected to the computer and the radios. The software must be better or at least the drivers. However, if you experience problems that’s the first thing I would eliminate.

Icom remote software. Marcus has created an excellent app for the iPad and a few ICOM radios. He is updating regularly and it is working real good right now. I am using my Icom 7610 in Pierre South Dakota while traveling. More information on my website to come.

This is a clip of the first 20 minutes of operating in the 2015 South Dakota QSO Party. Amateur Radio Station K0PIR.
You don't have to own an expensive station or be particularly good at contesting to have a good time. I'm not the most experienced contester, but I do enjoy participating in them occasionally. I hope this clip is informative and maybe will encourage others to participate in their state QSO party. As of this time I have 7 awards from other state's.
Fortunatley a kind operator spotted me and I made quite a few contacts. My station is a simple one. An Icom 7000 running 100 watts into a Hy-Gain TH-2MK3 beaming South East. The antenna height is only 25ft. I'm using a Heil BM-10 boom mic and foot switch. The software I'm using is N1MM logger and I have a .wav file setup for calling CQ when it gets slow. It's not slow in this clip. A big thanks goes out to everyone who participated. I really enjoy making contacts and I had a great time. 73 Rich K0PIR

Question: "I am trying out different Windows Logging Programs, like LOG4OM, HRD, and others. Each time I want to engage each program with WSJT-X and JTDX. Every time I have to change the Radio Tab settings in WSJT-X/JTDX, to correspond to that specific program. . Is there a way I can either load the FT8 software and select a “preconfigured” radio tab for each logging program"
Using different Configurations in WSJT-X/JTDX/JS8Call and other similar programs can help. This video goes over different WSJT-X configurations. Theses can be setup for using different radios, cables, software and more.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Decreasing the Command interval in DXLab Commander helps tremendously controlling the radio with sliders. It also improves the S-Meter response. In Commander go to Config and the General tab. Look for Command interval which is just below the CI-V Address field. For the Icom 7610 and Icom 7300 10ms works. This will increase Commander's use of your PC's CPU time. See the Help section in Commander for more info.
