This scene was one of a few that didn't sit well with us. Rian Johnson comes from an indie, avant garde background in a lot of ways, and he tried to bring some of that to this film. Though we give him credit for attempting something new, we don't feel that the style of this scene fits well with the other SW films. It deviates too much. Paige continually kicks the stair case over and over knowing her mission is time sensitive. She knows that she might not catch the trigger, and most people with common sense know that if you want something, you don't kick whatever it's on to get it.
Paige could have simply got up, but she didn't putting everyone in the mission in jeopardy. We see this scene as an example of horrible writing in the film. This edit removes the multiple kicks and the attempt at a dramatic moment to simply get the trigger in a timely fashion and in one that doesn't slow the beats of the moment too much.
This edit is part of our "The Senate Cut" which will be out soon.

This sequence has been edited to remove all of L3-37's original dialogue. It is now consistent with our earlier edits that frame L3-37 as a droid with a gambling problem. This also allows for the removal of the awkward scenes where it is implied Lando and L3-37 have a sexual relationship. There is no Pando Lando in the Smuggler Cut.
This is from our upcoming "Smuggler Cut" of the film.
All footage property of Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios.

This edit removed Poe's tantrum on the bridge where he begins to kick boxes over and makes a scene infront of hsi suboridnates. TLJ makes attempts to make Poe seem like an arrogant hothead, but this is out of line with his character in both TFA and TROS. With our edit the scene now reflects Poe's ability to hold an intelligent conversation, and hold people accountable. This is not the final edit, as there are a few sound issues to be resolved.
This edit is part of our "The Senate Cut" releasing soon.
All footage belongs to Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios.

This clip was edited to remove the exposition given to Finn by Rey about how she escaped her cell. This mission is time sensitive and they need to move quickly and with a purpose. Rey stopping to talk about her emotions and feelings reduces the sense of urgency in this sequence and makes the stakes feel less consequnetial.

This edit removes the whole segment where L3 tells Han and co she can't use her saw if people are looking at her. It's weird and, though it's an attempt at comedy, this sort of sexual innuendo doesn't work well in a Star Wars film. Removing this segment of the sequence also helps keep the film in the same tonality as the other Star Wars films.

In this edit I've removed Hux's "pathetic" quip. This line makes Hux look snobby and over confident. With the line removed, however, he seems more like an intelligent, military tactician with experience.

This edit includes a new transition between the First Order scene and Jakku. It also reduces the long drawn out scene of Finn trying to find water. The audience knows he has nothing and is in a desert. We don't need to see Finn act like he's dying of thirst for an extended period of time, because that need for water is already implied.
