Twitter is awash with Zoomers losing their s**t over Trump's move to ban TikTok, literally begging the President to consider how much the app helps them with their self-esteem and to ignore the glaring abuses of the Chinese Communist Party. Unreal.
We look at some of the crazy, astonishing and absurd things that happened this week, including:
- the voice actor for Cleveland stepping down because characters of color should be voiced by people of color
- the Houston Association of Realtors is replacing “master” with “primary” on its online property database
- the Dixie Chicks renaming to "The Chicks"
- the Cambridge professor who says "White Lives Don't Matter"

Our social and political culture appears to be edging off the precipice. It's not at all clear whether we can return from the brink. The only tool we have available to turn the ship around is honest conversation.
It's precisely the most uncomfortable conversations -- the ones outside of the Overton window -- that we need to be having a society. To do that, we need to understand the sociological and ideological undercurrents that are shaping our world.
That's what the Political Preamble channel is about. The goal is exploring these forces from first principles and explaining them in clear language. We are doomed unless we shine a light on the ideologies that are taking root in and shaping our institutions.

Last week, President Trump directed OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET to ensure that Federal agencies cease and desist from using taxpayer dollars to fund racial sensitivity training if they involve concepts of "white privilege" and "critical race theory" which he says is "anti-American propaganda,"
In a two page memo, the director of the OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET directed all agencies to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to QUOTE any training on "critical race theory, "white privilege," or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil
What is critical race theory and why did Trump ban it from federal agencies?

The 1619 Project is an effort produced by the New York Times Magazine, specifically by a woman named Nikole Hannah-Jones among several other contributors. It was published in August of 2019, allegedly on the 400th anniversary of the “true” founding of the United States, when the first African slaves were brought to American soil. It was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
The NYT has now quietly revised the text of the project and claimed they never asserted that 1619 was the true founding. Nikole Hannah-Jones, one of the main contributors, has also scrubbed all her tweets.

The 1619 Project asserts that the true founding date of the American republic is not 1776, with the signing of the Declaration of Independence, but rather 1619, allegedly when the first African slaves were brought to American soil at the Jamestown Colony. It goes further to posit that, because of this historical incident (supposing it is true and articulated accurately), the United States has always been a nation founded economically (see also, capitalism), thus politically (see also, liberalism), upon the institution of slavery, which was therefore encoded into the societal DNA of the American republic. That is, the 1619 Project exists to go beyond the claim that racism is America’s “Original Sin” to make the far more extraordinary claim (on very shaky evidence and weak argumentation) that it is, in fact, its genuine foundational principle.
Not content merely to make this claim, the 1619 Project insists that the American Revolution was fought primarily in the attempt to preserve American slavery against the will of the British, which it claims intended to end slavery sooner than the colonists would have it. These features, the project claims, have left indelible marks of systemic racism and white supremacy in the American nation at the level of law, institutions, economics, culture, and society that it has not and cannot get over without a fundamental remaking of the entire system itself (see also, revolution). That is, it is an attempt to cast the entire American Experiment as one built upon and for the purposes of the oppression and domination of blacks by whites through slavery and its systemic legacies (see also, liberalism, meritocracy, and post-traumatic slave syndrome). Helping to facilitate this aim, the 1619 Project is not merely limited to a series of articles in the New York Times Magazine but al

Ah...the familiar uproar before the facts are in. Joe Biden released a nonsense statement about the need to dismantle systemic racism and so on. Forget about waiting for all the facts before weighing in on this. No. Joe Biden has to release the most inflammatory statement possible as soon faster than he can say malarkey.
Of course, more footage has now come in and, unsurprisingly, there was more to this story than police brutality and cops hunting down black people. We now know that Jacob Blake physically assaulted the officers before this altercation seen in the original footage. If you only had the first piece of footage, you wouldn't know that. So rather than this simplistic story of "cops shoot unarmed black man in the back 7 times" without any other context, we now know that Blake was a wanted felon, that he is a violent convicted rapist with multiple domestic violence counts against him, he was in the commission of a crime and wanted at the time the cops showed up and he attacked them physically before the altercation shown in the original footage which is why their guns were drawn.
Then, as they are attempting to arrest him walks around his car, opens the door and reaches for something at which point one of the officers shoots him multiple times in the back.

Until very recently, Jodi Shaw was a staffer at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she made $45,000 a year, which is less than the yearly tuition at the school. Specifically, she worked in the Department of Residence Life. Jodi has been a liberal all her life and is an alumna of the college. In October of 2020, she posted a video to YouTube describing the atmosphere of outright racism she endured for at the college. Jodi had no interest in making videos or having her face on camera, but she felt she was out of options. You see, Jodi is white. To any sane person, this would be the least interesting and least meaningful aspect of her existence. But Smith College was relentless in insisting that Jodi’s skin color was the most salient aspect of her as a person.

Something is tragically wrong at American colleges and universities. The wider society first learned about the menacing and intractable problem of the social justice craze in academia with the case of Bret Weinstein, an evolutionary biologist and professor at Evergreen State University in Washington State who ended up leaving the university after the campus and administration were effectively overtaken by radical social justice warrior students and faculty members. The turmoil followed Bret’s refusal to comply with a demand that white faculty members and students be excluded from the campus for a "Day of Absence" in a bizarre effort to bring attention to issues of equality and equity. A more blunt way to state what happened is that the school began pursuing a racist program, Bret dissented and pointed out that basing a person’s right to speak or be on campus on their skin color was evil, and he was hanged as a result. Bret and his wife Professor Heather Heying, later resigned and reached a $500,000 settlement with the university, after having sued it for failing to "protect its employees from repeated provocative and corrosive verbal and written hostility based on race, as well as threats of physical violence".
This brings us to the present day, where colleges and universities across America have swallowed the social justice agenda wholesale. What was once confined to select departments within the university system, primary the social sciences, has now been adopted by the administrations in many universities. In many of these cases, administrators are peeing their pants from the terror of the prospect of being labeled personally or institutionally racist if they don’t go along with the social justice agenda and enact policies of so called “diversity, equity and inclusion.” Which brings us to the case of Jodi Shaw.
