As you can see we’ve got even more snow. The ground hasn’t frozen yet so stepping in post still works. Soon we’ll be processing 3 of the older girls, they will be used for ground beef, we will miss them though.
In this video, we demonstrate how we build our pens for our cows. We also talk about the differences between post, we find the Gallagher Multi Wire Ring Top Post is the we’ve used so far. We also cover the reel we use, which is the Gallagher Geared Reel, it has a 3:1 ratio so it’s really quick to wind in.
We also talk about cows and kids. As well we also talk about our livestock guardian dog Nana, she is supposedly a pure Kangal, but has the wrong colouring. She’s awesome anyways and is great with the kids.
Here's our first calving video for 2022, sadly we lost our first calf this year. It was born with a weird health issue and passed away. thankfully everything else has gone well. This calf is out of a line of our best commercial cows, and he is gorgeous.
The cows still have plenty of feed in this pen. Our goal is to flatten out all the dead standing grass so we can get that carbon into the soil. Also when it snows we have to go check the fences to prevent it from shorting out on the ground.
Here you get to see the kids “help” Emily with taking down the mainline. Also you get bonuses content of Dallas moving the cows.
Rotational grazing has many benefits that you don’t hear about, such as the pure beauty of a late fall evening.
In this video I hang out with Nana the livestock guardian dog as we wait for the cows to come and eat a bale I just rolled out. I was a beautiful winter morning for making a video. Also I get to pet one of the shorthorn heifers.
