Das Evangelium in Rußland Als vor mehr als 200 Jahren Ludwig XIV. seine eigenen Unterthanen wegen ihrer Treue im evangelischen Glauben verfolgte und des Vaterlandes beraubte (Widerrufung des Ediktes von Nantes aus 1598), fanden viele von den Flüchtlingen außer in Brandenburg auch in Rußland eine gern eröffnete Zufluchtsstätte. Der Fürst Galizin sagte, der König von Frankreich habe das Licht verlassen und die Finsternis erwählt, den „christlichen" Kaiser angefallen und des Türken Partei genommen. Das Manifest der Zaren Iwan und Peter vom 21. Januar 1689, der sog. „Paß“ für die Hugenotten verkündet ihnen Aufnahme und Schutz der religiösen Überzeugung im russischen Reich. Eine große Anzahl der Flüchtlinge ist der Einladung gefolgt und hat in Moskau und anderen Städten Rußlands eine neue Heimat gefunden.
