Cheap and Easy Way to Remove Rear AC From Ford Vans
In my Ford van, someone had cut the rear AC lines which let out all the refrigerant. Summer weather is starting up so I need the Air working. I don't need the rear air fixed as it is not a passenger van anymore. I just wanted to have the dash Air working. I discovered a $70 block off kit that blocks the lines going back to the rear unit. I started looking around under the hood and realized the bypass is much simpler and is essentially free. I thought I would share what I have learned about this in case it might help someone.
Always remember when working with AC systems that there is refrigerant under pressure. Don't vent this to the atmosphere if your system has a charge still. Have it pumped down by an AC tech. Mine was completely empty before I started on it.
