Cheap and Easy Way to Remove Rear AC From Ford Vans
In my Ford van, someone had cut the rear AC lines which let out all the refrigerant. Summer weather is starting up so I need the Air working. I don't need the rear air fixed as it is not a passenger van anymore. I just wanted to have the dash Air working. I discovered a $70 block off kit that blocks the lines going back to the rear unit. I started looking around under the hood and realized the bypass is much simpler and is essentially free. I thought I would share what I have learned about this in case it might help someone. Always remember when working with AC systems that there is refrigerant under pressure. Don't vent this to the atmosphere if your system has a charge still. Have it pumped down by an AC tech. Mine was completely empty before I started on it. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62FiFGBiRz8
I had to replace the temperature sensor in Zephyr's diesel heater. It has been giving me problems for a while now. I ordered this part a month ago and it finally arrived. Now my heater works like new.
Here is the part that I bought.

It has a different plug than the Chinese heater but it was a simple matter of cutting and splicing the wires together.

I now have the gas run through filters and into the engine. I also added a condensate tank for the hopper. I made some homemade butterfly valves for the gas and air.
The gasoline fuel pump is not working, so starting on gasoline is not an option right now.
I tried starting it up on woodgas and it tried to start, but I don't have the control cables for the valves run yet, so I couldn't adjust to keep it running.
The battery was already weak, so it ran down quickly. I just need to get it charged up completely.

I have had several requests for a tour and update on the tiny house. Our house is not completely done, but it is pretty close. Also, there are a few things I wish I had done differently, but that will be in another video.

In this video, I build the swivel for the wind turbine. I used the scooter head tube and fork for a bearing.
After getting the whole thing welded to a pipe, we lifted it up into the wind to test it out. It works well turning into the wind. There was very little wind movement so it wasn't spinning as fast as I would like to see. It should work when at a higher elevation.
I may re-design the blades to grab more wind.

I haven't had much time for anything but work lately, but I have been wanting to get started on the scooter project. I got the scooter stripped down and fixed a couple of things. I tested out the four wheeler front end and found several things that I want to do different.
Check out my store. I have shirts, hats etc.

In this video, I continue working on the wind turbine for the cabin. I built blades from PVC pipe and made an arbor to hold them from square tubing. I built a frame to hold everything and put a fin on the back of the frame to help keep the whole thing pointed into the wind. I am going to need to do some finish work on the blades and put a bearing in the swivel part.

The grocery hoist from a few years ago has stopped working. This hoist is for two elderly ladies that without it would have to carry everything up quite a few stairs. I think it did pretty good for what it was. The boat winch that was on it wasn't designed for use with an electric motor so it wore out the bushings in the gears. I figured it was time for an upgrade so since it will be Christmas soon, I decided to upgrade it for them as a Christmas present. They seem to like it so far.

Something a little different. I thought I would try a little "moto vlogging". I went and took a motorcycle safety training course. This course is free and teaches you motorcycle safety and how to handle your bike better. If you ride a bike I would recommend this course, it also will help save money on insurance and in my case will allow me to get my license without taking the state motorcycle skills test. I had planned to record some of the course but some people there didn't want to be recorded so I respected their decision.
Here is where I took the course,

this link is their Facebook page. I don't do Facebook, but it was the best information I could find on the place.
Let me know if you would like to see more videos of motorcycle rides. An off-road ride would be more interesting as well as give the opportunity for more external shots.
