I wanted to test out the microphone on my new Moto X so I recorded the Western Washington University orchestra playing Sibelius 7 from the low brass section.
I wasn't expecting miracles from the mic array on this guy, but at least you get to see the abilities of the microphone. Even though I consider myself a soft player, it fared pretty well considering it was right next to the bell of a trombone. What I should have done was record it horizontally, because the microphones try to capture stereo with some software trickery. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBrkezDtg-I
In this video I cover some of the things that I used to get the speaker open and test the current tweeter coil.
I spoke with Mick at Magnepan and he's sending me a tweeter repair kit which includes enough 32gauge aluminum wire to repair both speakers!

Got a bunch of records from Goodwill on the 2nd. Their prices have seriously gone up in recent months. Records used to be a dollar each unless otherwise marked, and now everything is marked with individual prices...
Sorry about the high pitched whine in the left channel... I can't work out what that's from and I'm not working at my desktop so I couldn't remove it. Windows Live Movie Maker!! Hopefully I'll be back at a real editing suite for the next video.

Taking a look at some of the older laptops that I've got sitting around or have repurposed. Also a very noisy little Toshiba 30gig ATA drive.
Didn't notice until just now that the drive actually says "RATTLE NOISE IS NORMAL" on the last line of the label. What a riot.

Wow, every time I try to put a video description on this video, youtube just shits on my work. That's stupid. Apparently greater than symbols can not be used.
First episode in the series I was talking about! Hope you guys enjoy it.
I had more to say, but honestly I can't remember what it was from last night. Next episode we go check out the huge mountain thing.

I had this bent rim on my subie which I didn't know how to deal with. So found a rim on a similar car at a junkyard and have been getting practice unmounting tires. My God does it take a lot of energy and know-how.
I swear to God, the other videos I've seen made this look so easy. I wonder if it's difficult with small-size A/S passenger vehicle cars. Most of the tire mounting vids I've seen were for ATVs or larger vehicles like trucks.
TBH this is very exciting, I've been meaning to order seasonal tires for some of the cars, but didn't like the idea of paying $40 every time I wanted to switch them out.
Reviews:
The Harbor Freight Bead Breaker with Swan Neck gets 3/5 stars because I needed to strap it down and get creative with a ratchet strap.
The Harbor Freight 24" Tire Irons get 2.5/5 stars because they worked great except for the one that bent when I got a little too forceful with it.

Just checking out the camera on this iPod touch. The scanning seems kinda lackluster, but Apple wanted HD so they got "HD".
