This Roar 2 is not a replacement but rather a complimentary version of the original Roar. You can still get this one but many user was looking for similar performant is a smaller package. This version here actually have an MSRP of $329, but now on amazon for $169, while the original roar was launch for $299, and it's now reduce to $149 (as the time of this review).

This one is 20% smaller and 10% lighter than the original -- and you still get the same high performance drivers configuration in this model. In the original the woofer was upward firing and the twin tweeters were front firing. This Roar 2 all of them are upward firing with the subs are outward firing. You can use this in 2 orientation: lay flat down facing toward you for more direct sounds, or stand it up for upward firing for more room enveloping sounds.

They have both model in Black and White, The version I have here is Black. I also have the neoprene carrying bag along with a long shoulder strap.

Besides being Bluetooth speakers, this unit also play songs (MP3/WMA) from the micro SD card. It also act as a voice recorder, and use as computer speaker via USB connection. It's also a battery pack and it supports NFC pairing -- although I couldn't test this.

The speaker is loud and produces a nice clear bass drop. Once you activate Tera Bass, that bass is exaggerated but at the expense of being muddy on certain genre like EDM. The Roar mode give it that extra deep and surrounds feeling, great for concert and acoustic music. You will find the vocal are buttery smooth while the highs remind crystal clear, properly reproducing string instrument or carrying female vocalist without being harsh.

Range wise: 20 feet through 1 wall with open door and I started to experience drop out. Keep in my my house is loaded with about 8 IP cameras and probably another 10 wifi devices in various location so that could interfere with the Bluetooth 2.4 Ghz signal. If the devices are in open room and within sight, it's much father range. Being curious, I left the speaker in my front door and walk about 100+ feet across to my neighbor yard, I can still hear the music. Bonus -- crank it up and I can hear my music.

Overall there's not much to complain about this speaker. For it price, it definitely delivery a premium sound experience which other big player in the market also have but at much higher price point. If there's one improvement the company could make, is to locate the playback control of this unit on top, making
