Kyorinbo Temple (Shiga) is said to have been built by Crown Prince Shotoku in 605 and named as such for being originally a place of teaching ("Kyo") surrounded by a forest ("Rin").
Featuring gorgeous moss-covered stones lined-up all over its garden, Kyorinbo temple is reminiscent of the famous Japanese artist and aristocrat Enshu Kobori and its magnificent wabi-sabi world.
The thatched roof of the study building, located at the entrance of the temple is today designated as an important cultural property by the city and is another highlight of Kyorinbo Temple.

The Bunkyo Civic Center, and its Sky View Lounge observatory is, as far as we are concerned, the best spot in Tokyo to enjoy Mt Fuji behind Shinjuku’s major skyscrapers. Open year round with free admission since 1994, the Bunkyo Civic Center had a rather rocky start and today’s design is actually very different from the initial one! the original building that was built in 1959 was not deemed to match future safety standards and it was instead decided that it would make more economical sense to come-up with an entire new design.
Opening for the second time in 1994, the Bunkyo Civic Center, the administrative heart of Bunkyo, is a radiant compromise between modern architecture and functionality. If you ever have the chance to visit the Bunkyo Civic Center, we would strongly advise you to do so as early as possible in the morning (9 a.m.) or during sunset.

Nagano Togakushi-Hokosha- 宝光社 - 4K Ultra HD : The Togakushi-Hōkōsha (宝光社) shrine is the second of the three major Togakushi shrines and is located rather close to the the main shrine the Togakushi-Chūsha (中社). Just slightly smaller than its bigger brother, this shrine is only accessible by a long and difficult set of stairs that will quickly do its best to make your journey more difficult in winter. I am not ashamed to admit that I slipped several times on my way down and had to finish my journey on my “lower back” to avoid any injuries.
Despite being small, Togakushi-Hōkōsha, is a gorgeous shrine with wonderful wood carvings that are a treat for our eyes. Add to that beauty the mystical silence of a snowy day and you have all the ingredients for a truly amazing experience.

Manpuku-ji is the head temple of the Zen Obaku sect and also located in in Uji, near the center of Kyoto. While extremely popular among Japanese people, Manpukuji was created fairly recently in 1661, only 7 years after the Obaku sect, originally from China, came to Japan.
Because of its Obaku sect origins, Manpuku-ji’s architecture is heavily influenced by the architectural style of China's contemporary Ming Dynasty, and retains a much more Chinese appearance than other Buddhist temples in Japan. Finally, but unfortunately very difficult for most of us to witness, the temple grounds are laid out in the shape of a dragon when viewed from above.

Chomeji Temple was erected around the 4th century near the beautiful lake Biwako, Japan’s largest natural lake. It centers around the life story of Takenouchi no Sukune, a famous ancient politician who, according to the legend, lived for the next 300 years after carving a passage into a large willow tree leading to the temple ground.
Several centuries later, the Prince Shotoku found Sukune’s carved passage and inscriptions and started to carve the tree into a Kannon statue on the advice of an old hermit living nearby, who was rumored to be Sukune himself. Once done, Shotoku, on the instruction of the hermit, enshrined the Kannon statue in a small temple and named it Chomeji or the Temple of Long Life.

Located in the heart of the fishing town Mihonoseki in Shimane prefecture you will find the small 500-meter long Aoishidatamidori street which is lined with old houses, inns, and museums. It’s made famous by the stones used to pave the road that is supposed to turn slightly blue when water is poured on them.
