"Baïlèro" is a traditional song from Auvergne wich was adapted and published by the french composer Marie-Joseph Canteloube in his collection "Chants d'Auvergne" between 1923 and 1955. The collection has been created in order to preserve the traditional music of Auvergne. "Baïlèro" became one of the most popular.

This song is a french adaptation of a very old war dance from Brittany "Gwin ar c'hallaoued", whose lyrics were written in 1960's by an anonymous. The song got various names such as "Le Vin gaulois" or "La Danse du glaive", and is often mistaken as a drinking chant. The lyrics refers to the raid of bretons warriors in Franks Kingdom who used to pillage the vines and the wines of the population they called gauls.
Ce chant est une adaptation française d'un très ancien chant de guerre breton nommé "Gwin ar c'hallaoued", dont les paroles ont été écrite dans les années 1960 d'un auteur anonyme. Le chant est plus connu sous le nom "Le Vin gaulois" et "La Danse du glaive" et est en conséquence souvent prit pour une chanson à boire, ce qu'il n'est nullement à la base. Les paroles font références aux incursions des guerriers bretons dans le Royaume des Francs qui avaient pour habitude de piller les vignes et le vin des locaux qu'ils surnommaient sous le nom de "gaulois".
