The native distortion effect lacks highfrequency content imho.
I accidentally discovered how to add high distortion frequencies: by maximizing the added dithering: normalize a sample played at low volume.
Doing so with the eq-effect will give you still a bit of high- low-band control using the fx knobs.

The blopengine is just a basic 3d C++ framework, just some bunch of usefull classes.
NOTE: this project is abandoned.

This video shows how to use the electribe arpeggiator with pre-programmed notes (so without pressing the note-buttons, but only the ribbon controller). All audio came from the ESX: the arpeggiated instrument (keyboardpart) in the audiodemo is made with a square-wave + bp filter (in the SX upgrade pack-file, see link below).
Nothing but ♥♥♥ for the electribe (community), keep pushing the limits!
preparation:
1. play a pattern
2. select a keyboard part
3. set the arpeggiator slider to neutral
4. press a sequence of notes *without* a note-release (note-gliding). The arpeggiator will remember all notes UNTIL a note-release. Before you do this, try finding notes which fit the pattern and the scale (setup scale in pattern menu)
use during performance:
1. press play
2. randomly hold the ribbon controller (the top) while moving the slider.
3. you might want to put a random oscillator on the filter of the keyboard part to keep things organic.

APOLOGIES: sometimes i mention 'highpass' when i actually mean 'lowpass' :)
The obvious usage for lowpassfilters is to reduce high frequencies. However, with a resonant filter can do the opposite as wel. Get creative with a lowpassfilter, use it as an exciter.

The track is called 'ebbingekwartier', named after the hipster place in Groningen, where Leon lived nearby.
All sounds come directly from one hardware sampler.
Just like music was made back in the days.
No laptop, no external fx, no eq, no plugins.
Just FUNK...oh and I do this live.
