One little insignificant 5' 2" lady, the daughter of an Imam from Turkey, named Hatun Tash, did more damage to the Qur'an in the public mindset in 2016 than anyone else I know in my lifetime. And what was it that she did just 5 years ago? She searched the Arabic Muslim world for different Arabic Qur'ans (knwon as 'Qira'ats', or 'readings') and she found 26 of them, no two of which were the same! She then went down to Speaker's Corner and held them up for the whole world to see, and that began a series of actions which led to the infamous interview just over a year ago between Mohammed Hijab and Dr Yasir Qadhi, where for the first time a leading Muslim scholar admitted publicly that there are now 30 official Arabic Qur'ans, and not just one, and that all of them "are the Qur'an", despite the fact that there are more than 93,000 differences between them! In this episode Jay takes what Hatun found and unpacks its ramifications against the belief in the Muslim world today that the Qur'an has been perfectly preserved, without one letter or one word different. Because of what she found, no longer can Muslims claim that the Qur'an is eternal (supported in Surah 85:22), or that not one letter or word has changed (supported in Surahs @ and @), or that Allah has been able to protect his Qur'an (Surah 15:9), because even if one Qur'an differs with another, it shows that man has intervened and changed what is supposed to be eternal and perfect, and Hatun found 26 different Qur'ans, written by 26 different men, all with their names accompanying their different renditions (Qira'ats, or readings) of the Qur'an! So, how can you use this material? What Hatun Tash introduced in 2016 you can now continue to employ in 2021. Take what you have learned here in this episode and ask Muslims if they can really defend the notion that the Qur'an has been perfectly preserved? Ask them to prove that it has never been touched by man, or been changed (not one word or even one letter), and don't let them get away by simply saying that these are nothing more than dialectical differences, or that they don't change the meaning at all. You saw just a few examples of how differing words change the whole meaning of the verse, and can lead to different practices or even different beliefs. It is time to confront Islam's revelation once-and-for-all, and introduce a much better revelation, the Bible, a book which never makes the claims the Qur'an makes, and therefore never has to defend what the Qur'an has to. THERE SIMPLY WERE NO "RIGHTLY GUIDED CALIPHS" AT ALL! The Islamic Traditions (popularly known as the 'Standard Islamic Narrative' = SIN) have always assumed that the first 4 caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman & Ali), all came to power once Muhammad had died, and thus all lived and ruled in the mid-7th century, in the cities of Mecca & Medina, though they expanded their borders, so that by 661 AD they controlled all of the land from Tripoli in the West, to Afghanistan in the East. So, they should have been well known, and much should have been written about them...at least one would think, since they were so dominant and controlled so much, right? Why then can we not find one reference to any of them on any Rock Inscriptions, or on any coins from that time period, or from that area? In fact, we can't find anything written by them or about them from that century at all! What's more, we can't even find a reference to the word 'Caliph' until the next century? The title that was used for an Arab leader at that time was 'Amir al Mu'minin', which means 'commander of the faithful'. Does this not suggest that everything we know about these 4 "caliphs" was not written by anyone living at that time, or in that place, but written at a much later date, and at a different place? What this suggest is that what we know about these "4 rightly Caliphs" is nothing more than concocted history, created in the much later 9th century Abbasid era, and then redacted back onto the 7th century, in order to give credence to their prophet and their religion Islam? After the European Court of Justice upheld a ban on religious symbols in the workplace (which Pfander does not support), Lizzie and Jay ask why the hijab matters in Islam and examine the theology behind it, focusing on Sura 33:59 and Sura 24:31 (especially the word 'Juyubihinna' = covering bodies, faces, necks and bosoms - according to Hilali and Khan) and al-Bukhari 1:4:148 and 8:74:257, and also Sahih Muslim 26:5397. These are passages Muslims do not like others to look at, nor want the Western audiences to know about. The narrative from almost every Western Muslim is that the Hijab is only worn out of modesty. Yet, it is clear from these references that the reason for the covering concerns protecting Muslim women from the sexual looks of their men, or men being seduced by the beauty of women's faces and hair. Lizzie and Jay look at the contradictions behind this notion, and ask why the women are paying the price for their men's weaknesses. They compare this with what Jesus teaches about women, showing clearly that men are responsible for their own lust, and that Jesus treated women, not as sexual objects, but as equals, allowing them to learn from him as a Rabbi, and permitting them to accompany him and his disciples as they went from town to town.
