I know this is excessively long, but i was so sad yesterday and looking through some older videos, some that I never posted, and I couldn’t help but string them all together. Thought some of you might also like it.

Nice long video for you of Leo and Jim! We know you all love to see Jim interacting with the bears. Leo is happy to oblige.

We have some REALLY good news!! Yesterday we were contacted buy the Woodbourne Fire Department. They were at the scene of the accident and were able to tell us more of the story. Vinny NuNu's mother and siblings ALL SURVIVED!! The person who advised us differently we believe was referring to a different cub (one that did not come here). This particular cub still has a mama and siblings out there AND that live in the area...a very remote wooded area. The reason that is such good news, is that if this guy recovers well, it MIGHT be possible to put him right back with his mama.
It's far too early to be talking about that as at this point we don't even know IF he will survive, or IF he will be ok to be released....but on the chance that he is, we know WHERE he came from and where his mother is...such amazing news.
The miracles keep happening. Special thanks to the entire Woodbourne Fire Department and the state trooper that was on the scene for fighting with those that wanted to put this guy down, and for giving him a chance at life!
And look at out little NuNu...eating chicken like a big boy. :)

We invited some of our long time supporters and helpers to name the squirrels this week and so we can now officially welcome Penny, Gigi, Rosa and Rikki to the Orphaned Wildlife Sanctuary. These four came to us after the tree they were living in was cut down. Some nice people hand fed them for the past two weeks and took very good care of them before finding us to turn them over to and finish the job and the release. All their eyes are open now and all are healthy and doing well.

Susan: “So Frankie, this recession is pretty bad and a lot of sanctuaries and rescues are going under. Their supporters no longer have any extra income to spare, and things are tight everywhere. We’ve been hit pretty hard too, donations are down and we’ve lost a lot of monthly sponsors in the past few years, so I know you’re bulking up for winter, but maybe ease off a little on the extras, ok?”
Frankie: “What? WHAT?? What do you mean?? No more brownies? What about donuts? Jelly donuts will still be around, won’t they???? OMG, OMG.. AMY!!! AMY!!!! DROP THAT APPLE!!!! I’m collecting them and burying them for our future starvation!!! WE ARE ALL GONNA STARVE!!!”.
Susan: “Of for goodness sakes, Frankie, we are fine, you are in no way going to starve, and there is plenty to go around. I’m just saying that things are tighter and we have to try to get some more monthly sponsors to help support you. You know you DO eat over 30 lbs of food a day. ”
Frankie: “I absolutely can NOT do without anything. Have you looked at me? I am the absolute picture of health and beauty. I refuse to sacrifice my food. Randy is looking kinda fat though. As a brown bear I don’t think he needs as much as I do. Give me his food and he can do without. That would be fine.”
Susan: “No one is doing without Frankie. We are still doing fine, but we have to be prepared. ”
Frankie: “Quite frankly, mom, I think that Leo could shed a few pounds. Have you seen that beer gut lately? Shameful. You should give me his food and you should put a treadmill in there for him.”
Susan: “We do not fat shame Frankie. Leo is bulking up for winter, just like you and he is still as handsome as ever. Look, you know what, forget I said anything…I’m going to ask our fans if they would consider helping us out by becoming a monthly sponsor, or by making a donation. If a few of them will step up and help out, no one has anything to worry about.”
Frankie: “You know mom, now that I’m looking around, Jim and Toaster could stand to lose a few pounds too. Give me their food. That should help out!”
Susan: “OK Frankie, know what, I’m just gonna go back inside and forget I said anything at all”.
Frankie: “Jenny! HEY JENNY! Mom said you’re fat and we have no money and she is going to have to give me all of your food!”.
Susan: “I absolutely did NOT say anything of the sort….oh for goodness sakes….”

OK, so none of the animals are even close to being in danger of going hungry, but the recession HAS hit hard and we would really welcome a few extra monthly sponsors. If you have anything you can spare, we would really appreciate the support! You can find some options on our website: http://orphanedwildlife.org/donate - thank you for your consideration.
