Episode 129: Dave E.
In this episode you will meet Dave E. from Toronto, Ontario. Dave grew up in an alcoholic home, and always had the idea that being an adult meant drinking alcohol. That’s what he understood adults to do, so he started drinking as a young adult.
Though his drinking was heavy at the start, he didn’t think that he drank any differently than his peers. It seemed everyone was partying, but as Dave puts it, “he was drinking inappropriately at all the appropriate times.
After about fifteen years of drinking, Dave found himself in terrible shape both physically and mentally. He was over weight, had high blood pressure, and he couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without losing his breath. His depression was so severe that he often considered harming himself.
After a few tries at sobriety. Dave is now sober for four years and attends meetings at the Beyond Belief Group in Toronto.
