This decision was made to protect the safety of our residents after two shootings occurred within two hours. The first shooting occurred at 6 p.m. and was heard by a police officer in the area. This shooting resulted in eight rounds being fired. It is not known if anyone was struck. The second shooting occurred at 7:42 p.m., while police officers were on scene dealing with a separate incident. In this second shooting, one individual was shot in the leg. No arrests have been made and the investigations to identify suspects are currently ongoing. The City of Brooklyn Park has seen a drastic increase in violent crime in this area over the past four weeks as large groups continue to gather. In the past three weeks there have been five shootings and an increase in other incidents involving weapons. We are releasing video of the recent shootings and are asking for the public’s help to identify potential suspects.
