Here's a study of some oldschool Belgian fishermen. Finally getting the hang of this thing called Mixer Brush, a second attempt, and it's still sort of a mystery. Who are you Adobe, is this real paint?

Hey guys, here's another mood piece! I've also included a one layer breakdown of how I usually start these sort of images. I find that isolating the structure of complex objects on a separate layer in front of a solid background really helps to avoid distraction from surrounding elements. In combination with the lasso tool it can really help to get good crisp edges too.
An environment (and tutorial) I did for 3DTotal's 2DArtist magazine. It has also been published in their latest Digital Painting Techniques book which you should definitely check out:
A while ago I decided to get back into the habit of doing daily studies. They're super fun to do and really help get the creative juices flowing in the morning. Each of these took about 30 to 60 minutes, the goal is to keep it simple and practice fundamentals. (Not that it matters, but they're all done on one layer and without zooming in. I don't know, but keeping it straight-forward and oldschool like that feels really revitalizing. Try it, preach it.)
IFCC is happening! Now! As in: right this minute! Earlier today I did a Q\&A and a demo was streamed in which I created this image, hope you all like it! (I'm gonna extend the Q\&A to social media, so if you've got any questions on a 3DCoat / Blender workflow or just on the image in general: fire away.)
Oh, wow, the Mythic Edition for Ravnica Allegiance got spoiled! I'm incredibly honored to have gotten the opportunity to put my mark on an iconic character like Ajani. Super excited about the result but it's an image that I've grown really attached to for another reason. Here's a little blog post I wrote about it if you're interested:
