From Susan:
Seven of the squirrels that we have came because the trees that their nests were in were cut down. When you think about the extreme force of the tree hitting the ground it is amazing that these tiny little babies survive. Only one died. But this little squirrel has been struggling. The only time she is not sleeping is when she’s drinking her formula. She is such a messy eater that by the time she is done, we are both covered in milk. Her brothers and sisters are way ahead of her eating solid food and all playing on the branches. I’ve been worried if she could survive on her own.
The last few days she is drinking much better and this morning she was up playing on the branches for a long time! So hopefully we’ve turned the corner. Amazing that they are not all killed when the tree hits the ground.

Video 2 of 2 (scroll back to see part 1 of this!)
Jim decides to take a swim with Jimbo, but the bear immediately gets out of the water. Then he tried to pull Jim AWAY from the water! "It's not safe there Jim, come away from the edge". He first tries by pulling his arm gently, then he grabs his shirts and yanks him away from the waters edge. :)

The squirrels that were too injured, or too young to be released before winter are certainly ready to go. From Susan: Last week the squirrels were moved out to the barn. Today I let them into the outdoor area. They really love it out there. I kept going out to watch them. As soon as the leaves are on the trees they will be released.

Two of the deer from last year that Susan raised and released. So neat that they come back and especially that they are hanging out right near the fawn enclosure. The fawns are in that fence right behind them.
