No commentary playthrough of the Base Ganymede addon for Doom. Ultra Violence skill level, showing all secrets and getting all kills (where possible).
Base Gamymede is one of the latest additions to the curated selection of addon present in the official Doom releases. It's a 2012 megawad created by Khorus, consisting of three new episodes with a vanilla theme. No new textures or features are added aside from some new music. It's a pleasant ride, but sometimes it seems to rely too much on ambushed where monsters pop up right behind you, directly in front of you, or all around you, granting the demons some cheap shots.

Base Ganymede es una de las últimas adiciones para la selección de addons presente en los lanzamientos oficiales de Doom. Es un megawad de 2012 creado por Khorus, consistente en tres nuevo episodios con temática vanilla. No hay nuevas texturas o características aparte de algo de música nueva. Es un viaje agradable, pero a veces abusa bastante de popear un demonio directamente detrás tuya, delante, o todo alrededor, otorgándoles un ataque de oportunidad.

No commentary playtrhough of Nerves of Steel, normal difficulty, played through DOSBox.
Released in 1995 for DOS. According to MobyGames, it uses the graphical routines from Fortress of Dr. Radiaki. Whatever it means and not knowing how its influence is... It is not a bad start! I mean, Radiaki's gameplay was super broken, but the engine, worked. That doesn't apply here. There's is only one single aspect where this game is better, it has strafing. Full stop. Ugliest FPS I've ever played, and easily the worst.
The star of the show is the engine. At first it might seem that it is a Wolf3D clone, but it isn't. It allows for ceiling and floor heights, just like Doom. But the guy programming it just wasn't up to the task at hand. It runs atrociously bad, when there are corridors, it's fine, but once you draw big rooms, performance just drops to the ground. Other thing that you might realize is that despite there are funcional doors, there are lots of "doors" that just can be ran through. Well, those are some kind of clipping planes. When you cross them, the game just stops processing anything located in other rooms: door timers stop, enemies stop still... The devs knew that this was the only way to keep the friggin engine from having a fucking seizure! It also crashes happily after like 20mins of gameplay, and you are forced to reboot to be able to play again. It is also easy to get out of bounds. And there are lots of "slime trails" and other graphical glitches.
The graphics are just as ugly as they can get. Many textures don't tile propertly, and most of them are crafted with the most irritating colours possible... and their use is even worse, like they wanted you to also have a seizure along with the game engine. MS-Painted enemies, and there are 6 and 3 bosses, but they all behave the same, the only difference is damage output.
The levels are terrible. Labyrinthic and cryptic shit which will require you to constantly resort to the automap to check which walls are not solid, and they love the teleporter mazes... Because who dislikes them, right?
The game box states that the game has multiplayer support, but it is nowhere to be found.

Nerves of Steel es un FPS lanzado en 1995 para DOS. Acorde a lo que dice MobyGames, usa las rutinas gráficas de Fortress of Dr. Radiaki. Lo que sea que quiera decir eso... No es un mal comienzo! Es decir, el gameplay de Radiaki estaba super roto, pero el motor, a pesar de sus limitaciones, funcionaba. Esto no es aplicable en este caso. Hay un único aspecto en el que este juego es mejor que Radiaki, y es que permite movernos de lado. Punto. Es el FPS más feo que he jugado, y fácilmente el peor.

No commentary playthrough of the 1994 DOS FPS "Fortress of Dr. Radiaki", normal difficulty.
This game was created from the ground up in 7 months (engine included), and I'm saying this up front because that's the only redeeming factor the game has, because it's the worst shooter I've ever played (and probably will play). You are a secret agent dropped into an evil genious' island to stop his world domination plans after his ultimatum. Armed only with a bat. You'll fight cuban soldiers, ninjas, giant talking rats, russian robots, killer fire hoses, and grenade launcher toasters. The game doesn't take itself seriously at all, and is full of cringe. I played it on normal because hard is impossible, it has like 3x the monsters with the same armor and health supply.
I really can't make a complete list of why this game is so terrible, because YT only allows for 5k characters in the description:
- If I seem to suck at the game, it's not me, it's the terrible controls.
- The mouse control is completely useless. Behaves like a steering wheel, both for turning and/or moving forward or backwards. It's impossible to run in a straight line with it.
- This game has no strafe.
- Keyboard turning is ass, even with a slight keypress of an arrow, the view will turn more than you might want.
- With the absence of strafing, you would probably want to "peek" around the corners by running towards them in an angle. Don't worry, the player gets stuck at the corner.
- The automap is useless and will only show the tiles you've stepped on.
- The levels are switchhunt mazes that will need secret door hunting in later levels.
- Enemies can shoot through each other, so them all can damage you at a time.
- The game allows you to save after dying
- The projectiles from your weapons have a very small hitbox, which tied to the turning problems, makes them useless.
- Your only weapon choice is the hitscan tommy gun, to ensure enemy stunlock and hitting them at all.
- Some of the levels are just too stingy with supplies (Specially 8 & 11), while others are plentiful.
- The vertical offset for many item and enemy frames is bad and they'll seem to float or be below the ground.
- I could go on... But I guess you get it.

Este juego fue creado desde 0 en 7 meses (motor incluído), y digo esto primero porque es el único factor redimible que tiene este juego, porque es el peor FPS que he jugado (y probablemente que jugaré en toda mi vida). Eres un agente secreto depositado en la isla de un genio malvado para detener sus planes de dominación mundial después de lanzar un ultimátum a la humanidad. Armado solamente con un bate, te enfrentarás a soldados cubanos, ninjas, ratas gigantes parlanchinas, robots rusos, bocas de incendio asesinas, y tostadoras que disparan granadas. Este juego no se toma en serio para nada, llegando a la vergüenza ajena. Lo he jugado en normal porque en difícil contiene prácticamente el triple de monstruos que en normal, con el mismo suministro de armas y vida que en normal.
Realmente no puedo hacer una lista de razones por las que este juego es tan terrible, porque YT solamente permite 5k caracteres en la descripción:
- Si parece que apesto jugando a esto, no es cosa mía, sino de los terribles controles.
- El control con ratón es completamente inútil. Se comporta como un volante, tanto para girar como para andar. Es imposible andar en línea recta.
- El juego no tiene strafe.
- Girar con el teclado es una mierda. Incluso dándole un leve toque a las flechas, gira un ángulo generoso.
- Con la ausencia de strafe, seguramente querrás andar contra pared para asomar el hocico en las esquinas. No te preocupes, el personaje se queda atascado en las esquinas, impidiéndolo.
- El automapa es inútil, solamente enseña los tiles que has pisado.
- Los niveles son laberintos a la búsqueda de botones, y requerirán encontrar puertas secretas en los niveles más avanzado.
- Los enemigos pueden disparar unos a través de otros y dañarte todos a la vez.
- El juego te permite salvar después de muerto.
- Los proyectiles de tus armas tienen un hitbox muy reducido, lo que unido a los problemas de los controles las hacen inútiles.
- La única elección de arma posible es la ametralladora hitscan, para asegurate de que les haces stunlock a los enemigos (y que les aciertas siquiera).
- Agunos niveles tienen suministros muy reducidos, mientras que en otros abundan.
- El offset vertical de bastantes frames de los enemigos e items está mal, y parecera que flotan en el aire o que están por debajo del suelo.
- Podría seguir... pero creo que os haceis a la idea...

No commentary playthrough of Hexen: Beyond Heretic. Played on max difficulty, using GZDoom.
This playthrough is and update over my previousone and is meant to be the ultimate one. Improvements:
- 4K, for better bitrate and overall video quality
- Shows all secret levels
- Played with every player class
- Highest difficulty level
Hexen is 1995's Raven Software spinoff for Heretic, set in the same world, where you go on the hunt for another of the Serpent Riders. This time around the game world is set in level hubs, where you do different tasks in each one of the levels to unlock new sections in the other levels and eventually solve one big hub puzzle. You now can also choose between 3 different player characters with different weapons, run speed, and use of certain inventory items.
It's Hexen! You either love it or hate it. For me, I do love how the game looks, the weapons, the enemies, the weapon sound effects, the desings, the atmosphere... Literally everything but the game itself. The overdone puzzles can do for a very frustrating first playthrough with lots of wtf moments wondering what does mean that the switch you just activated did just do. The enemies are just time fillers between the switches and there's no point in killing them (if they dropped gold or xp at least...). There are death pits and insta death traps. The player classes are cool, but in the end you are stuck with just 4 weapons during your playthrough. It's a good game... if you happen to like enough aspects of it and tolerate its shortcomings.

Este playthrough es una mejora sobre el anterior que había subido y debería ser el definitivo. Mejoras:
- En 4K para mejor bitrate y calidad de vídeo
- Enseña todos los niveles secretos
- Máximo nivel de dificultad
- Jugado con las 3 clases
Hexen es el spinoff de Heretic que Raven Software lanzó en 1995. Situado en el mismo mundo, ahora vas a la caza de otro de los Serpent Riders. El juego está dividido en bloques de niveles, en los que haces distintas tareas que desbloquean nuevas áreas en los demás niveles, con el objetivo de completar un gran puzzle en el nexo principal. También permite elegir entre varias clases de personaje, con distantas armas, velocidad y uso de ciertos objetos del inventario.
¿Qué voy a decir que no se haya dicho ya? ¡Es Hexen! Lo odias, o lo amas. En mi caso me encanta cómo luce, las armas, los diseños, los enemigos, la atmósfera, los efectos de sonido... Básicamente todo menos el juego en sí. Los puzzles enrevesados dan para un primer playthrough bastante frustrante con muchos momentos donde te preguntas qué carajo ha hecho el botón que acabas de activar. Los enemigos solamente son relleno para desperdiciar tu tiempo entre botón y botón (si al menos diesen oro o experiencia...). Hay pozos sin fondo y trampas que te matan instantáneamente. Lo de las clases está bien, pero luego te encuentras con tan sólo 4 armas distintas durante el playthrough. Es un buen juego, si te gustan suficientes cosas de él y estás dispuesto a tolerar sus defectos.

No commentary playthrough of 1995's Terminator: Future Shock. I can't remember on whick skill level I played this, so let's say it's on medium/normal. This is played through Terminator: SkyNET, a sequel which allowed to run the previous game through its updated engine.
Based on the Terminator movies, Future Shock takes you to the post-apocalyptic Earth after the machines won the war. You are a new recuit fighting for the Resistance and dismantling a new time defying threat from the machines.
Future Shock is an extremely ambitious game for 1995. Being the very first game produced and designed by Bethesda's Todd Howard, he surely pushed the envelope. It features a fully 3D texture mapped environments, 3D enemies, pushed the use of mouse look, vehicle sections and open-world-ish missions where you can roam freely. Also, as you might expect from Bethesda, it's a buggy game, even with modern fixes and patches experienced a few mission restarting bugs.

Playthrough sin comentar del Terminator: Future Shock de 1995. No puedo recordar en qué nivel de dificultad lo he jugado, pero digamos que fue en normal/medio. Está jugado a través de Terminator: SkyNET, la secuela, que permitía jugar al juego anterior con su motor mejorado.
Basado en las películas de Terminator, Future Shock nos lleva a un mundo post-apocalíptico después de que las máquinas hayan ganado la guerra. Eres un nuevo recluta luchando para la Resistencia y desmantelando una nueva amenaza temporal de las máquinas.
Future Shock es un juego extremadamente ambicioso para 1995. Es el primer juego producido y diseñado por el Todd Howard de Bethesda, y realmente forzó un puñado de cosas nuevas. Tiene un mundo en 3D texturizados, enemigos 3D, forzó el uso de la mirada con ratón, secciones sobre vehículos, y misiones pseudo-mundo-abierto donde puedes explorar con libertad. Y como cabe esperar de un juego de Bethesda, es un juego con bastantes bugs, incluso con parches y arreglos de comunidad experimenté algunos bugs que me hicieron reiniciar misiones.

2022 es un año muy loco, estamos rebiendo revivals de todo tipo de shooter, pero Retchid era algo que no me esperaba... un clon de Doom3! Aunque no me ha volado la cabeza, pasé un buen rato jugándolo, espero que el juego mejore con el tiempo.

No commentary playthrough of No One Lives Forever 2. Regular difficulty level (I should've gone higher tbh), presented in 4K, proper widescreen, using the Nolf2 Modernizer patch for compatibility and fixes.
Nolf2 is a first person shooter set in a comedic 60s/70s spy movie theme, created by Monolith Software and debuting the Jupiter Engine. You are Cate Archer once again, a super secret agent always thwarting the evil H.A.R.M. organization's plans, but this time around H.A.R.M. is all out looking to wipe Cate out of the way. While the game can definetly be completed going guns blazing, it is more satisfying to play in a more quiet, stealthy way, as the game's strong part is using all the gadgets and trying to be quiet... The shooting is not very satisfactory. It is a very fun game, with great humour and characters which reuses some locales a bit too much. It is a shame that it's on a legal limbo and there's no easy way to bring it back.

Playthrough sin comentar de No One Lives Forever 2. Dificultad estándar (aunque debería haber apuntado más alto la verdad), mostrado en 4K, con formato panorámico bien adaptado, usando el parche Nolf2 Modernizer para mayor compatibilidad y arreglos varios.
Nolf es un shooter en primera persona situado en una comedia de espías de los años 60/70 , creado por Monolith Software y debutando el Jupiter Engine. Eres Cate Archer, una super agente secreta que siempre coarta los planes de la organización criminal H.A.R.M., pero esta vez son H.A.R.M. quienes quieren quitarse a Archer del medio. A pesar de que el juego puede terminarse perfectamente disparando a todo lo que se mueve, es más satifactorio tomarse su tiempo, jugando más sigilosamente, ya que es el punto fuerte del juego, usar todos los utensilios y ser sigiloso... Ya que las armas no son tan satisfactorias de usar. Es un juego divertido, con buen humor y personajes, aunque reutiliza algunos escenario un poco demasiado. Es una lástima que se encuentre en un limbo legal y no haya forma fácil de traerlo de vuelta.
