"Se på mig" (literally translating into "Look At Me"; an English version is titled "Another Night") is a song by Swedish singer Jan Johansen. It represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 in Dublin, Ireland, using the alternative spelling Se på mej. It was the 18th song that was performed on the night, following Cyprus's Alexandros Panayi with "Sti Fotia" and preceding Denmark's Aud Wilken with "Fra Mols til Skagen". At the close of the voting, it had received 100 points, ultimately finishing 3rd out of a possible 23. It was succeeded as Swedish representative at the 1996 contest by One More Time with "Den vilda". The song peaked on the Swedish Sverigetopplistan singles chart at #1 twice. On 21 April 1995 it reached No. 1 on the charts, staying there for five weeks and then returned to #1 on 9 June 1995 for another four weeks. Johansen has participated in Melodifestivalen four times since "Se på mig" - fourth place in 2001 with "Ingenmansland", seventh place in 2002 with "Sista andetaget" and second place in Melodifestivalen 2003 with "Let Your Spirit Fly", a duet with Pernilla Wahlgren. He has continued to release music and toured in Sweden and Scandinavia. In February 2020, Johansen was asked to perform the song "Se på mig" as a mid time act in one of the competitions in the Melodifestivalen in Linköping. While in Linköping Johansen was asked by the production team to perform the song "Miraklernas Tid" (Time for miracles) by Thomas G:son, as a replacement for the artist Thorsten Flinck who had to leave the competition due to legal reasons. After 24 hours to think it over Johansen agreed to perform the song, save the song from being scratched from the competition with less than a week to rehearse until the competition in Gothenburg. During that week Johansen made interviews, was booked for 4 concerts witch of he had to cancelled 2 to have more time to rehearse. Johansen Johansen did some minor changes to the staging of the number, to try to make it suit his artistry better. This song was not written for Johansen and the song was only performed once and did not make it to the final. Johansen decided not to record the song. In Marsh 2013 Johansen published his autobiography entitled Med nya ögon (Through Different Eyes) which he co-authored with journalist Colette van Luik. After being sober from alcohol since 2008 Johansen had gone through therapy and started to process aspects of his life. This resulted in this book in which he tells in a self-evident way his life story as a musician and performer. From childhood to the big breakthrough in 1995. The song ranked 6th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The word “Koldun” in Russian means “magician” or “sorcerer”. The song is an up-tempo number, with Koldun describing the power that his lover has over him, likening it to "magic". He tells her that, as a result of her power, she can "keep my heart forever bound". He also promises that "you'll get the best of what I've got". The CD/DVD set was originally sold in stores in Eastern Europe (being popular in Russia, Belarus and Greece), then sets were given away for free as a promotion - they were later given away for free with other items such as a Koldun T-shirt, cap and chocolate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, Helsinki. The song "Work Your Magic" proved popular in some Western European countries such as Ireland and Spain, although both countries awarded Belarus no points in the Song Contest final. The only Western country to give Belarus points was Portugal (1 point). Koldun made his promotional music video for the song in Saint Petersburg. As both the artist's name and song may suggest, the video has a very strong 'magical influence' as the video features magicians, witches, fire breathers, etc. The main plot appears to be a jealous queen's attempt to destroy a young woman whom Koldun may be singing about. The young woman is teleported through the fire into a grand castle-like setting as magical acts and occurrences around her. She runs through halls and corridors attempting to escape though in the end she runs into the queen (who is much larger than her) and is obliterated as the queen raises her hand and laughs in triumph. Throughout the video there are clips of Koldun performing the song, accompanied by two guitarists and a drummer. The video bears a close resemblance to the video for the song "Jaded" by Aerosmith, in which many elements and characters, including the young female central to the story, are quite similar. The performance in Helsinki featured two backing dancers climbing on moveable walls. BBC commentary focused on Koldun's perceived similarities to Princess Diana. Prior to the contest Koldun led the biggest Euro tour ever made by any Eurovision participant appearing (and performing) all over Europe - Russia in the far east and Ireland, far west. As Belarus had not finished in the top 10 in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, the song was performed in the semi-final. Here, it was performed fourth (following Cyprus' Evridiki with "Comme Ci, Comme Ça" and preceding Iceland's Eiríkur Hauksson with "Valentine Lost"). The song received 176 points in the semi-final, placing fourth in a field of 28 and qualifying Belarus for the final. In the final, the song was performed third (following Spain's D'NASH with "I Love You Mi Vida" and preceding Ireland's Dervish with "They Can't Stop The Spring"). At the close of voting, it had received 145 points, placing sixth in a field of 24. It took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, following the country's victory at the 1965 contest with the song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" by France Gall. It was the second time Luxembourg hosted the event after the 1962 edition. The contest was held at the Villa Louvigny on Saturday 5 March 1966 and was hosted by Josiane Chen. Eighteen countries participated in the contest. All countries that took part in the 1965 edition, also took part this year. The winner was Austria with the song "Merci, Chérie", performed and composed by Udo Jürgens, and written by Jürgens and Thomas Hörbiger. This was Austria's first victory - and Udo Jürgens third consecutive entry - in the contest. This was also the first winning song to be performed in German. This contest is also noted for its historic results for several countries. Austria who came first, Sweden who came second, Norway who came third and Belgium who came fourth all achieved their best results up until then, some of which would stand for several decades. In contrast traditional Eurovision heavyweights up to that point such as France, United Kingdom and Italy all achieved their worst result by far up till that point, with the general public in the aforementioned countries meeting these results with a degree of consternation. 1966 marked the year the first ever black singer graced the Eurovision stage, Milly Scott representing the Netherlands. It was also one of the first contests in which an entry was not accompanied by an orchestra. The Italian entry "Dio, come ti amo" performed by Domenico Modugno had been rearranged since its performance at the Sanremo Music Festival and officially broke the EBU rule that stated the arrangement should be finalised well in advance. During the Saturday afternoon rehearsal Modugno performed the new arrangement with three of his own musicians as opposed to the orchestra, which went over the three-minute time limit. Following his rehearsal Modugno was confronted by the show's producers about exceeding the time limit and was asked to use the original arrangement with the orchestra. Modugno was so dissatisfied with the orchestra that he threatened to withdraw from the Contest. Both the producers and EBU scrutineer Clifford Brown felt it was too short notice to fly Gigliola Cinquetti to Luxembourg to represent Italy, so the EBU gave in and allowed Modugno to use his own ensemble instead of the orchestra. Despite websites and the official programme listing Angelo Giacomazzi as the conductor, Giacomazzi actually played the piano for the entry. This year's voting was also characterised with numerous cases of "neighbourly" or "bloc" voting - a problem that would plague the contest in many future decades. Sweden for example received all its 16 points, bar one, from its Nordic neighbours - as did Finland. Denmark likewise received all its points from Nordic nations. The voting of the Nordic countries was met with booing from the Luxembourg audience. Portugal and its sole neighbour Spain exchanged maximum five points, with Switzerland and Austria - also two countries neighbouring each other - doing likewise. France was spared the indignity of no points from its micro-state neighbour Monaco. Ireland awarded maximum points to its culturally closest neighbour the United Kingdom with the Netherlands doing the same for Belgium. Hier also Ingrid Peters' erster Auftritt bei einem deutschen ESC Vorentscheid. Mit diesem Lied landete sie relativ weit hinten auf dem 8. Platz. Sieger waren damals Dschinghis Khan. Peters wuchs im Saarbrücker Stadtteil Malstatt auf und legte am Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Gymnasium das Abitur ab. Anschließend studierte sie an der Pädagogischen Hochschule in Saarbrücken und erwarb ihr Diplom in Arbeitslehre und Sport. Gleichzeitig erlernte sie an der Musikschule Saarbrücken das Klavierspiel. 1973 begann Ingrid Peters ihre musikalische Karriere als Sängerin in einer Band. 1976 folgte die erste Schallplatte. Für ihr Album Komm doch mal rüber mit der gleichnamigen Hitsingle erhielt sie die Goldene Europa und es folgten weitere Hits. Ihre ältere Schwester Linda Bergen versuchte in jener Zeit ebenfalls, im Musikgeschäft Fuß zu fassen, der Durchbruch gelang ihr jedoch nicht. Zwischen 1976 und 1986 standen insgesamt vier Lieder von Ingrid Peters in den offiziellen deutschen Verkaufshitparaden. 1979 bewarb sie sich mit Du bist nicht frei bei der deutschen Vorentscheidung zum Eurovision Song Contest und erreichte Platz 8. Mit der Coverversion Afrika belegte sie 1983 in der ZDF-Hitparade Platz eins. Im selben Jahr wurde Ingrid Peters beim Seoul-Song-Festival in Südkorea Dritte. Außerdem bewarb sie sich 1983 zusammen mit July Paul erneut bei der deutschen Vorentscheidung zum Eurovision Song Contest. Ihr Titel Viva la mamma kam auf Platz zwei. Beim Eurovision Song Contest 1986 nahm Peters mit dem Titel Über die Brücke geh’n teil und belegte den achten Platz. Danach legte sie eine mehrjährige Pause ein und kündigte ihren Plattenvertrag mit Ralph Siegel. 1997 trat sie bei den Deutschen Schlager-Festspielen mit dem Titel Komm und halt mich fest (Musik: Willy Klüter) wieder auf und erreichte Platz sechs. Seither schreibt sie nahezu alle ihre Texte und auch einen Teil der Melodien selbst. Das erste selbsterstellte Album war Aufgewacht. Einer ihrer künstlerischen Höhepunkte war ein Auftritt im Jahr 2000 bei der großen Silvester-Show in Peking. 2002 brachte sie in ihrer Heimatstadt Saarbrücken ihr One-Woman-Musical Bin ich denn total verrückt?! mit der Premiere in der Congresshalle auf die Bühne. Seit 2004 singt Ingrid Peters Advents- und Weihnachtskonzerte in Kirchen, teilweise mit Peter Horton. 2005 erschien ihr Album Mit meinen Augen mit den Auskopplungen In deinen Augen sieht’s nach Regen aus und Weit. 2007 nahm sie den Titel Solang’ aus Liebe für das letzte Album von Drafi Deutscher, The Last Mile, auf. 2009 kam ihr Album mit Titeln wie Schwester, Freundin und Draußen, in einer anderen Welt auf den Markt, von denen einige im Jahr 2008 ausgekoppelt wurden. Insgesamt war Ingrid Peters in mehr als 1.000 Fernsehsendungen zu sehen. Ihr künstlerischer Schwerpunkt sind allerdings Bühnenauftritte, wobei sie Auftritte mit einer Live-Band solchen mit Halbplayback vorzieht. Von 1993 bis Weihnachten 2019 war sie auch als Rundfunkmoderatorin bei SR 3 Saarlandwelle tätig. Von 1987 bis 1994 moderierte sie im SWR-Fernsehen das Schülerquiz Die sechs Siebeng’scheiten. Im September 2011 nahm Ingrid Peters an dem TV-Format Cover My Song des Senders VOX teil. Dabei traf ein Schlagerstar jeweils auf einen Nachwuchsrapper, in diesem Fall Dr. Knarf. Er coverte Komm doch mal rüber als Rap, während Peters den Rap 8 Takte zu einem Schlager umarbeitete. Diese neue Version von Komm doch mal rüber erschien nach der Sendung als Download, 8 Takte auf dem Ingrid-Peters-Album Lass es rocken. Unter dem Titel Zurück nach vorne konzipierte sie gemeinsam mit dem französischen Gitarristen und Entertainer Laurent Kremer (Das Supertalent-Finalist 2014) eine weitere Konzertreihe für den intimen Rahmen von Kulturhäusern und Kleinkunstbühnen. Dieses Programm setzt sich aus Titeln der 50er bis 70er Jahre zusammen, in denen aus der Schülerin, Studentin und Bandsängerin Ingrid Probst die professionelle Sängerin Ingrid Peters wurde. Es enthält Titel von Gilbert Bécaud, von Dalida und Joan Baez, den Carpenters, Beatles, Janis Ian und vielen anderen. Die Premiere war am 8. April 2014 im Studio 1 des Saarländischen Rundfunks. Seit März 2016 nimmt Peters, nach über 40 Jahren im Showgeschäft, nur noch wenige Live-Veranstaltungen mit herausragenden Begleitorchestern oder mit ihrem Gitarristen Laurent Kremer im Rahmen des Kleinkunstprogramms Zurück nach vorne an. Von November 2019 bis Mai 2020 war sie am Saarländischen Staatstheater in der deutschen Premiere des Michel-Legrand-Musicals Marguerite zu sehen.
