Wireless display for Xbox one is here ! This is something that was available in a preview build of xbox one in 2015 but it was removed, 4 years later and it's back. You can now stream your PC on your TV using your Xbox one. It's very similar to things like chromecast or even steam link but the advantage of using the Xbox one is that it will be optimized for gaming. It's on the windows store right now if you want to download it and I suppose you’ll have to download the app on your xbox too. I don't know yet, i’ll have to dust off my xbox one before I can try it. One of the things I really like about this is that the Xbox controller will be automatically be recognized on your PC as an input device so you can play your games with it , or use it as the mouse and keyboard. Android users will also be able to mirror their phones to the Xbox one similar to a chromecast. ( READ PINNED COMMENT FOR UPDATE ) Support for PCIe Gen4 has been a long-running subject for pre-X570 boards like B450 or X470. It seemed like this feature was enabled by motherboard vendors. We saw Asus put out a complete list of compatible boards, Biostar also enabled it and Gigabyte was the first company spotted with the feature in the F40 bios update. Well now, It looks like Gigabyte is pulling the feature out of their boards in their latest F42A Bios Update. This new Bios also comes with the Updated microcode from AMD. This revised Agesa Microcode comes in to address a couple of issues with Ryzen 3000 processors like high voltage at idle, the Windows event logger bug and others. Since the Gigabyte Bios Update came with an AMD microcode update, it's unclear which one disabled PCI-E gen 4 functionality. If gigabyte was the one removing it, that’s fine, since it was added functionality in beta bios but if the Microcode update is the one that affects compatibility that means AMD might be cracking down on PCIE Gen 4. Now we won't know which one is the culprit until all motherboard vendors update the microcode. Gigabyte is the only one that rolled out Agesa 1-0-0-3 ABB so we’ll know more by them. I really hope this was a gigabyte decision because some customers might have purchased an ASUS or Biostar board specifically for the advertised functionality. I know I would have if I was in the market for a new PC right now. If it is gigabytes decision than people who bought an ASUS or Biostar board would benefit from the bug fixes in the new microcode, but its AMD’s then you might have to choose between bug fixes and PCIe Gen4. I know that pre-X570 boards weren’t meant to support it and that AMD says it's not supported but motherboard vendors test that kind of thing. Let’s get started with AMD. So the GPU market got a whole lot more interesting with the reveal of the new RTX 3000 series. But its been pretty much radio silence for the red team aside from a single emoji tweeted by the CVP & GM at AMD, Scott Herklemen. Well. Today we got another tiny little nugget that really doesn’t mean anything, but at least its something. In Fortnite… yes really Fortnite. AMD created a few maps for people to play and possibly win a maingear PC. In one of these maps there’s a phone. Answering that phone takes you to a parkour area with a code lock at the end. If you enter 6000 is that dial, you will get the prompt “ Something Big is coming to the AMD Battle arena”... That 6000 number coupled with the “Something Big” Text is probably a hint about the upcoming RX 6000 series from the red team. The part where it says its coming to the AMD battle arena though.. That’s a little weird. Is AMD Really going to do their grand reveal of the RX 6000 series in Fortnite? In any case, Frank Azor Also from AMD said that there were more easter eggs and that he’s surprised its the first one. I tried to go into AMD’s battle arena, but I’m so out of touch with Fortnite that I can’t even enter the maps! Let's get started with AMD. So, the company recently released their 7000X3D models of Ryzen cpu’s. Well, specifically, the 12 cores 7900X3D, and the 16 core 7950X3D. If we look at the reviews, they’re… well they’re kind of weird. Whether you look at Gamers nexus, Hardware unboxed, LTT, or whoever else’s reviews, these chips don’t really dominate the competition. In some cases, their own 8 core 7700X is as fast as the 7900X3D and sometimes even the last gen 5800X3D beats it. In other cases, the 7950X destroys the old models while the 7900X lags a little behind, but on average, they’re pretty good gaming chips. Just not worth the price difference in my opinion. Especially when compared to intel’s 13900K which at or close to the top in every benchmarks, and costs 120$ cheaper. You just have to live with a space heater. Anyways, why am I talking about this? Well because the third X3D Model, the 8 core 7800X3D is coming in a little less than a month, and AMD is starting to give us some homegrown benchmarks for it. The thing is.. Those benchmarks are WILD. Tom's hardware shared some AMD slides about the 8 core 3D chip and AMD claims it's about 20% faster than the 5800X3D, or the 13900K… but in 4 cherry-picked games. As we know, on average, the 2 new X3D models aren't all they were cracked up to be. Fast, for sure, but they didn't dominate the space like the 5800X3D did.
