Sometime in late 2017 I decided to embark on a nomadic way of life; to travel and experience the world in a different way, to share magic and fufilll a personal journey.
What was my journey? From England to Hong Kong overland, with hitchhiking as my primary mode of movement. With nothing but a 15l backpack and £50 in my pocket, the route I traversed was as follows: UK (flying into) - Norway (Hornsjø Mountain) - Sweden - Denmark (Magleby) - Germany (Berlin) - Czech Republic (Prague) - Austria (Vienna) - Croatia (Zagreb) - Serbia (Belgrade) - Bulgaria (Sofia) - Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara) - (flying into) Hong Kong.
Whilst on this journey I had sustained myself by working, volunteering, wild camping and couchsurfing wherever I could. Many skills were gained in the form of serving as a Barista, Hotel/Hostel Staff, Bartender, Kitchen worker, Waiter and even as a Cleaner. These videos are what I documented whilst in this journey. Shot on my Sony Xperia Z1 phone.
This specific video here is my stay with the Kadampa Buddhist Center, where I helped the transition from their old venue to this new place. This was during my third visit as a volunteer, lasting five months before I set off on my long journey.
Michael Vincent. Mentor. Friend. Brother.
Shot this whilst in Argentina. A homage to a Magician whom I consider the last of his kind. I believe in his work, so laying my ego away in support of his philosophy in life and magic.
Meet my two boys. Lik (meaning “strength” in Chinese) and Bao (meaning “Encompassing”). Lik is the brown dog, Bao is the Black dog.
When my first dog Oscar passed away, I realised how much I had neglected to properly love him and care for him. I promised myself to really look after the remaining two properly, with my full attention and understanding, whilst I was still around, so that I can avoid them suffering as Oscar did in his later years...due to poor diet, lack of exercise, and negligence.
There’s a part of me that can never forgive myself for not understanding sooner that I should have looked after Oscar properly. In his later years Oscar suffered from a tumour on his left paw, right next to his finger, grown into he knuckle. The finger had to be cut off, and Oscar became “Oscar Two Fingers”.
Suffered from a tumor in his chest.
He was still a happy dog, but pain surrounded him. The damage was done.
I vowed never again shall a dog under my care suffer that same fate.
