On February 3, 2024, at 2:14 p.m., LAPD officers responded to a report of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon" on Towne Avenue's 600 block. The call indicated an intoxicated suspect armed with a stick was threatening employees.
Upon arrival, officers met with the Person Reporting, who recounted the suspect's entry into a warehouse business on the 4th floor of East 7th Street's 800 block, instructing them to leave. Fearing for their safety, the Person Reporting contacted the police and signed a Private Persons Arrest for Trespass. They directed the officers to the 4th floor, expressing concern about the suspect's access to sharp and metal objects inside.
Once on the 4th floor, the officers observed the suspect later identified as 36-year-old Jason Lee Maccani resident of Camarillo inside the business and ordered him to exit with his hands up. Maccani initially complied then turned and charged toward the officers with a white object protruding from the bottom of his clenched right hand, which was held at chest level. one of the officers observed Maccani holding what he believed to be a screwdriver and deployed a 40 mm less lethal foam projectile round, another officer fired two bean bag shotgun rounds at Maccani however all of the less lethal Munitions were ineffective. Maccani persisted in his advance, grabbing one of the officers and her beanbag shotgun. This escalation led to an Officer-Involved Shooting.
Maccani was struck by gunfire, subdued, and taken into custody without further resistance. Officers provided immediate medical assistance until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. Maccani was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Subsequently, the object originally thought to be a knife was determined to be a white plastic fork.
Jason Maccani's only prior encounter with law enforcement was a DUI charge under section 23152(A) back in 2005 in Ventura County.
He graduated from UCLA with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2011. According to his family, he had been grappling with bipolar disorder in recent years.

Louisville, Kentucky --- Louisville Metro Police Department released 2 Body Camera footage from two officers involved in a fatal shooting yesterday 8/13/19.
Louisville Metro Police Officers Carlyn Alexander and officer Lenert Elzy responded to a report of a domestic assault yesterday Tuesday 8/13/19 around 9:30 p.m. Anthony Wane French Senior 49 years old was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at one of the officer saying "I have gun, back up". The critical incident occurred at a home in the 2600 block of Greenwood Avenue, Police Chief Steve Conrad said in briefing about the incident.
Police said French and his ex-wife had a history of domestic violence.
French’s son said he was thankful police arrived and got to his father before he killed them.
He said French and his mother were arguing over a bill. He said his father had been drinking and wasn’t in his right mind. He said French pistol whipped both him and his mother. They’d spent hours at the hospital after the shooting getting stitches.
WAVE 3 News Troubleshooters obtained French’s record showed he’d spent the majority of his adult life in prison. In 2003, he was arrested after officers found a “large quantity” of pictures of children performing sexual acts. There were other charges for drugs, public intoxication and a DUI. His record also showed he’d been arrested for assault four other times.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice released body cam footage, surveillance footage audio files and photos of an officer involved in the fatal shooting of Kevan O. Ruffin Jr., 32 years old by Sheboygan police officer Bryan Pray after on July 02-2020 around 5:50 am, near 15th Street and Illinois Avenue.
Officer Bryan Pray with the Sheboygan Police Department made contact with Ruffin who had two Japanese Sai one in each hands and without saying a word charged at the officer who backed up and start running away in a circle and this is when the officer involved shooting occurred. Officer Pray deployed his taser first but was not effective than he fired 6 shots at Ruffin hitting him 4 times to the torso according to the autopsy report.
Life-saving measures were performed, but Ruffin died at the scene.
Family members said had mental health issues and was known by the police.
Officer Bryan Pray has 2½ years of service with the Sheboygan police department.
The Sheboygan County district attorney has determined that the use of deadly force was reasonable and no charges will be filed.

Synopsis:
On 10-10-2019 at 12:54 PM Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a reported drunk pedestrian in the 6000 block of Central Avenue in Redwood Valley, California.
While searching for this reported pedestrian, Deputies subsequently contacted an adult male in the general vicinity (7000 block of Uva Drive).
During that contact an Officer Involve Shooting occurred.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- Two Santa Ana police officers involved in fatal shooting of a burglary suspect in Westminster will not face any criminal charges, the Orange County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.
On July 8, 2018 sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., a residential burglary occurred at a
residence in Santa Ana. During the burglary, jewelry, camera equipment, documents, cellphones,
clothing, bedding and other items were taken from the residence. That same night at
approximately 9:56 p.m., SAPD Officers Ahearn and Lopez were assigned to the Patrol Division
While patrolling the area, officers noticed a red Toyota Camry driven by Ngoc Dang Nguyen, 28. driving out of the
residential neighborhood where the residential burglary occurred and onto West 1st Street. The
vehicle was driving in a reckless manner at speeds reaching up to 70 mph. Officers Ahearn and
Lopez activated both the emergency lights and the siren of their vehicle in order to conduct a traffic
stop. A pursuit of Nguyen was initiated after he failed to yield. As the officers were pursuing
Nguyen, Officer Ahearn broadcasted on the police radio that Nguyen threw a handgun from his
vehicle as he approached the intersection of Euclid Street and 1st Street. This handgun was never
recovered. Soon after, Nguyen’s vehicle collided with an unknown vehicle, however, Nguyen
continued driving without stopping.
The pursuit continued to Bolsa Avenue in the City of Westminster were Nguyen began driving on
the wrong side of the street into oncoming traffic. While driving west on the eastbound lanes of
Bolsa Avenue, Nguyen collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota Camry occupied by two elderly
passengers. As a result of the collision, the airbags in both vehicles were deployed and the
vehicles were disabled. The elderly passengers of the 2010 Toyota Camry were both injured and
later hospitalized.
Immediately following the collision, both Officer Ahearn and Officer Lopez exited the patrol vehicle
with their handguns drawn. The officers yelled commands for Nguyen to remain inside his vehicle.
Despite the officers’ commands, Nguyen began to exit the driver’s door, and then crawled across
the front seats eventually exiting through the front passenger door.
As Nguyen exited his vehicle, both officers continued yelling commands, however, Nguyen failed
to comply. The officers observed that Nguyen was holding what appeared to be a semi-automatic
handgun in his right hand and began to run in a northwest direction across the center divider,
which was filled with trees and bushes. As Nguyen was running into the covered area,

The Volusia Sheriff's Office released a helicopter video footage of a police chase that occurred May 6-2021when a man stole two Cocoa Police Department vehicle in the same pursuit.
It all started when Cocoa police were called to check out a report of a suspicious person on I-95. During that investigation, the person, later identified as Xavier Javern Cummings, managed to get into a marked patrol car and took off.
Around 4:15 this afternoon, deputies were alerted to a stolen Cocoa Police Department vehicle entering Volusia County on I-95.
A pursuing police officer was able to force the stolen cruiser off the highway and into the woods, where it crashed and became stuck around the 252 mile marker.
However, as additional responding units approached, the suspect was able to jump out of the wrecked patrol car and into another Cocoa Police Department vehicle, again fleeing northbound on I-95.
After units along I-95 successfully deployed stop sticks, the suspect again ran off the highway and into a muddy median around the 258 mile marker, where Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Division Chief Brian Henderson approached the vehicle.
Additional units quickly converged behind them to take the suspect into custody. No injuries were reported.
The suspect’s ID is Xavier Javern Cummings 33 years old. (DOB 12/24/1987).

The NYPD is releasing today body-worn camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 13th, 2023 in the confines of the 50th Precinct.
According to the police, body camera footage depicts the officers responding to a burglary call on Lewis Avenue made by the 78-year-old Caesar Robinson's nephew. It was revealed later that the nephew was a friend who called Robinson his uncle.
Upon their arrival at Robinson's residence, he opened the door and, shortly after, brandished a gun, aiming it at the officers and advancing toward them. In response, the officers fired multiple shots, tragically resulting in his death.
Police reported that one of the officers, who had joined the force in July 2013, discharged their firearm four times, while the other officer, who became a part of the force in July 2014, fired three shots. According to police, this incident marked the first instance of either of them being involved in a shooting. The police revealed that Robinson possessed a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver loaded with five rounds, which was unlawfully owned.

Release of Body Worn Camera Footage from Officer Involved Shooting:
We are committed to being open and transparent with the public. This is a critical incident video regarding the officer involved shooting that took place on June 27, 2020.
The San Diego Police Department has identified the suspect who was shot by two uniformed police officers Saturday night.
In a release sent Sunday, Lt. Matt Dobbs said the suspect has been identified as Leonardo Hurtado Ibarra, 25, of San Diego.
Ibarra remains in the Intensive Care Unit with life- threatening injuries, according to Dobbs.
Two San Diego Police Department officers have been placed on paid leave after they shot and wounded a man who pointed a gun at one of the officers during a confrontation in downtown Saturday night.
According to witnesses, shots rang out around 6 p.m. near the corner of 6th Avenue and B Street, a few blocks east of the San Diego Civic Center.
SDPD said that officers spotted a man wanted in connection with a robbery that happened earlier this week.
Police said officers tried to talk with the man but he walked away. The man then dropped some items from his arms and "reached into his waistband."
"He produced a handgun and then pointed it at the officers" said SDPD Capt. Rich Freedman. "For fear that they were going to be shot, the officers return fire."
A gun has been recovered from the scene, police said.
Police said the man was wounded and transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. According to police, the man was having surgery late Saturday night.
The man was described as a 25-year-old Hispanic male. SDPD said he was wanted for a robbery that happened June 21.
SDPD tweeted a grainy still image taken from a nearby surveillance camera showing at least one officer with their gun drawn and a man dressed in red pointing an object at the officer. The object the man is holding isn't clear in the photograph. A second officer is also seen in the still image.
Protesters gathered in the area, yelling at officers and holding signs demanding justice.
"We are asking for them to be who they say they are which is trust transparency building relationships, and we have not seen that yet," said activist Tasha Williamson. "That is why we are out here by the hundreds and the thousands and we’re going to continue to be out here."
The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave while the investigation is conducted, which is standard protocol.

Prosecutor Chris Becker released his decision Tuesday, along with dash camera and body camera video showing the May 3 shooting of Malik Carey.

The footage from dashcams and bodycams shows officers approach Carey as he was seated in the back seat of a car on Dickinson Street near Kalamazoo Avenue SE. They were looking for him in coordination with Grand Rapids Public Schools because he hadn’t been showing up for class.
Prosecutors say Carey gave a fake name, so officers waited to get a picture of him to confirm he was the person they were looking for. In the meantime, Carey and one of the officers chatted nonchalantly about Carey’s dreadlocks.
But once officers confirmed Carey’s identity, things turned violent. Prosecutors highlighted portions of the video that show Carey pulling a gun from his waistband. The officers scrambled back, one of them shouting, “gun, gun, gun, gun.”Shots rang out. Police say Carey got off four shots before officers returned fire. It sounded in the video as though a total of about 15 shots were exchanged.
Carey died at the hospital. An autopsy confirmed two gunshot wounds caused his death.
No police officers were shot.
The police chief and the prosecutor said officers acted appropriately given the circumstances. In fact, Becker said that had Carey survived, he would have been charged with attempted murder.
“They had no other option,” Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky said, speaking to reporters after the video was released. “It just goes, in my mind, to reinforce just how dangerous a profession that law enforcement is.”
“I think they’re very lucky,” Prosecutor Becker said as he released his decision. “You look how close that was — that photograph of the gun pointed — and there’s two officers right there. But for the grace of God, neither one of them got hit.”
The three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure. Two have already returned to work, and the third should be back on the job soon.
Carey, of Grand Rapids, was a probation absconder and has a criminal history dating back to 2010, when he was 12. In 2015, he was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection to a Kentwood shooting, though he later pleaded to a less serious charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
