US Army Win the Battle of Remagen | Blown Up by the Retreating Germans | Ludendorff Bridge in WW2
The Ludendorff Bridge, was in early March 1945 a critical remaining bridge across the river Rhine in Germany Midway through Operation Lumberjack, on 7 March 1945, the troops of the 1st U.S. Army approached Remagen and were surprised to find that the bridge was still standing. Its capture, two weeks before Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery's meticulously planned Operation Plunder, enabled the U.S. Army to establish a bridgehead on the eastern side of the Rhine. After the U.S. forces captured the bridge, German forces tried to destroy it multiple times.
The Nero Decree was issued by Adolf Hitler on March 19, 1945 ordering the destruction of German infrastructure to prevent their use by Allied forces as they penetrated deep within Germany.
This is the German Firing Range, near Dinslaken in Germany, a few miles from the Netherlands Border, a full scale, multi distance rifle and support weapon firing range lies silent. Closing in the early 1990's it is possibly linked to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the German Armed Forces regaining control of its own borders.

In this video we visit the Port War Signal Station Bunker Complex from World War Two
Spurn Port War Signal Station is located on Spurn Point, Yorkshire.
Built during World War I, as a self-contained Operational static unit, with Officers Mess and Barracks for the Soldiers, this was a station with the important role of monitoring shipping movements.
All vessels entering the Humber had to give a pre-arranged signal, pennants in daytime, and lights at night. The signals were changed daily or as frequently as an hour.
Radio operators from the signal station would communicate with the ships and exchange predetermined codes to set friend from foe.
This bunker complex has been recently been re-discovered after many years. It had been filled in with sand, however The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have dug it out. Come and explore it with us!!
In this video we explore Spurn Point and the Military Structures that date back to World War One. This Military fort was in use until 1958. The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust purchased the entire site in 1988 and have been restoring it ever since. Spurn is a narrow sand tidal island located off the tip of the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England that reaches into the North Sea and forms the north bank of the mouth of the Humber Estuary.

Hello and Welcome to ALW Research Team. This is episode two of the Hull and Barnsley Series. For episode one see the link in the description box.
Episode One; https://youtu.be/N2dCgzbm2rM
A Rival railway company to the then well-established Hull to Selby Railway.
With its own Goods Terminus and Dock facilities the Hull and Barnsley Railway opened on 20 July 1885.
Initially struggling to get passenger numbers, freight saved the railway with coal exports from Yorkshires deep mines. Pits were expanding underground, they required timber and pit props, which were imported to the alexander dock and transported back to the mines in the empty coal trucks.
Also, wool imports to clothing and carpet mills, made the new railway busy and prosperous.
Passenger numbers eventually increased, so much so that the Cannon Street Goods Terminus was expanded with facilities for members of the public to alight.
We’re going to continue where we left off in episode one at Beverley Road, moving on to Maple Street. Lets Go!
This is the embankment and cuttings from kirkella up to Riplingham Road, the rail over road bridge there is still intact, which will be the start point of our next episode. Please Subscribe and Share. Thank you for watching this ALW Research Team video.
This entire yard was used for exporting coal by the Hull and Barnsley Railway. After closure a local scrap merchant used this area to cut up steam locomotives from all over the nation until the 1970’s when it was converted into cold storage.

South Foreland Battery occupied a key position on the White Cliffs between Dover and the village of St. Margaret's. It was built at the beginning of WW2 and consisted of four 9.2" guns on a large site with many auxiliary buildings.
I am hosted on this explore by the wonderful @IKS-Exploration go check their channel out!
The majority of the surface buildings have now been demolished but many underground structures still survive. The magazines for No.1 and No.4 guns were located in underground reinforced concrete rooms; No.2 and No.3 guns were served by buried surface magazines.
Two deep underground shelters were built in 1941 and take the form of long parallel tunnels accessed by inclined entrances on the surface, lined with corrugated steel sheeting throughout. Separate underground Fortress and Battery Plotting Rooms also exist on the site, but have been heavily vandalised.
The site is now on open land and has been largely reclaimed by nature, although various fragments of concrete serve as reminders of the site's importance during the Second World War.
This battery is located on open land, with some interpretation boards explaining the site's wartime importance. Entrances to underground workings grilled 2013, access continues to be available for interested groups, arranged through the key holders.

We explore a Light Anti Aircraft position (LAA) and a Short Firing Range from the Second World War.
A mounting for a 20mm Oerlikon remains with the ready use stowages and shelters.
We then move to a Firing Range used to train Royal Air Force Personnel in small arms Weapon Handling which would have included the Bren Gun and the Vickers MMG.

Opening before the birth of the Hull & Barnsley Railway, the station here was originally named Ardsley.
The site of this station was roughly here. There is little to no sign of any remains in this area other than the lasting reminder of a bygone track bed and these three spans near and over the River Dearne.
This original station was replaced in 1871 by a larger double pavilion type to heed the much-increased traffic that was brought by the numerous railway companies.
Situated here the lines were used by the South Yorkshire, Barnsley Coal, West Riding and Grimsby Railway, Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway and later the Hull & Barnsley Railway, which used Stairfoot as their Barnsley Terminus.
It is worthy of note that there was a huge viaduct that spanned east to west carrying the Midland Railway over the top of all the lines mentioned.
A Venturi is a device used to create a vacuum. The effect is the reduction in fluid pressure that results when a fluid flows through a constricted section (or port) of a pipe.
The Venturi effect is named after its discoverer, the 18th century Italian physicist, Giovanni Venturi.

We found this abandoned Royal Observer Corps Post in a thin treeline near some houses. It was shut down in 1968 as part of a defence cut. The hatch is missing but it is reletavly dry inside.
