The month of January is Human Trafficking Awareness month, and right now there is a major lawsuit against the Red Roof Inn hotel chain for their, let's say, tacit involvement, I guess, in human trafficking. Joining me now, once again, she's been on the show before, is Carissa Phelps attorney, co-chair of the Empower Her Network, and Carissa this lawsuit against Red Roof Inns, they themselves are not doing the human trafficking, but human trafficking has basically, from what I've read, been going on right under their nose, and they have turned a blind eye to it, I guess we could say. So tell us what we know about what Red Roof Inn did and did not do.
Well, what we know, especially during this time period and more recent time periods, is that there has been plenty of information around trafficking, what it is, what it looks like, how hotels are used by traffickers, the number of trafficking victims who have been taken to hotels, specifically around sex trafficking at hotels, where those venues have been used. So it's no longer turning a blind eye and not knowing or, or really should have known. There's enough information that they should have known what has been going on. And this case may be about one Red Roof Inn location, but what we're finding and what we see across the board, across various chain operations is that this is happening at various locations. They have the information like no one else does about all of these hotels and all of the activity that's going on and how their hotels are being used by traffickers, and it's right under their noses and they're refusing to look.
And, and one of the things I've seen too, and this is just very interesting, is even on the reviews, you have people that have just stayed at the hotel and they've said, hey, if you're planning on staying here, just know there seems to be a lot of prostitution, you know, people soliciting in this building. So for these hotels to act like, oh, we didn't know this was happening. This is absolutely not the case. The people who just stayed at the hotel were warning them that this was taking place in their hotels. And there's resources that hotels have now too, that they didn't have several years ago. They, they have specific guidelines, you know, that, that they can follow. Numbers they can call to report this and, and based on what we know, none of that happened. Did it?
Correct. I mean, not in this case and even 10 years back when they had the information, they weren't doing it. So, ECPAT has had a code for a number of years that various hotel chains have signed on to that outlines what to look for in terms of how traffickers use hotels and utilize hotels to exploit. And that's been something that's been well known across the industry that hasn't been implemented because of either cost or because maybe perhaps they wanted to continue to enjoy revenue and room bookings from both the buyers, the people who are exploiting from the obtaining end of it, and also from the traffickers who are exploiting and renting the rooms out for the purpose of trafficking. But all that information, the resources they have been there, training, effective training has been available and has not been utilized. And we, we can only imagine how they value the lives of the people who are being trafficked in front of their eyes, how they devalue them because they haven't done anything.
And, and so these resources that they have, you know, you mentioned even 10 years ago, are, are these from the federal government? Where, where did all this come from?
And there's been a combined effort since 2000 when the original Trafficked Victim Protection Act was enacted in the United States, and we started recognizing that slavery and trafficking could happen in the United States still and was happening.

PBD said, oh, I can't wait for that. To which Alina Haba responded, oh, yeah. And Patrick said, so she can't go shopping. You mean she can't buy? And then Alina Haba chimed in and a little singsong voice and said She can't buy her friends. Oh, I watched that. I said, I said, Reid Hoffman, I hope you're watching DNCI hope you're watching. This is the person, this is the person you picked. She, look, I couldn't talk about her cat's name. I couldn't talk about that.

The Republican Party has roughly two dozen members in both the House and Senate that have announced that they're not going to seek reelection this year. They are in fact retiring. Here's what he had to say. We've gone from a time when the Tea Party stood for conservative principle. All right, you know what? I'm gonna have to stop right there. The Tea Party stood for American Principles. No, no, no. The Tea Party was a phony grassroots movement paid for by the Koch network to convince a bunch of morons that Republicans really cared about lowering tax rates to help the average person. But in reality it was a well-funded multimillion dollar campaign by the richest people in this country to not have to pay as much in taxes to push trickle down economic. That's what it was. It wasn't a time about principle and populism.

Well folks, the audit taking place in Arizona of the Maricopa county ballots, over 2 million of them, really just gets dumber and dumber by the week. So, even though Donald Trump's defense officially rested on Tuesday, so now we're just waiting for the closing arguments to happen next Tuesday. On Monday, I gotta talk about what happened, um, because things got a little bit nutty in the courtroom, and the day actually ended with Donald Trump on truth social begging the judge to just dismiss the whole trial. Let's just be done with it, right? I mean, we went through everything, let's call it a day. But before Donald Trump got to that point, what happened was Michael Cohen, uh, admitted that he stole $30,000 from Donald Trump. And that was a big deal, and it would've been the biggest news of the day and would've been a crushing blow to prosecutors. Had Donald Trump's idiot lawyers not everything up at the end of the day. Because what happened was they called Michael Cohen's attorney Bob Costello, up to the stand, who was acting in such a bizarre and unprofessional manner that Judge Juan Marshan actually had to clear the courtroom, including the jury, to address the behavior of the witness.
So that became the big, horrible drama of the day, even though we had just learned that Michael Cohen literally stole money from Donald Trump. So the, the defense really had a chance to have a good day, and instead it ended up being a very bad day on Monday. But again, after all that drama, you know, Michael Cohen stole your money. This witness for your defense made such a clown of himself that it may have destroyed your case altogether. Trump got on truth social, and this is what he put. Judge Juan Rashan, who has thus far been the exact conflicted Democrat operative, his comrades expected, has a chance to take a real step toward rehabilitating both his reputation and the justice system of New York by dismissing the Biden election interference Witch Hunt, brought by Soros, funded DA Alvin Bragg. Every serious legal expert and scholar is unequivocally stating that the prosecutors have not come close to putting on a case. There is no crime, which means that the right thing to do is to end this scam now and forevermore. It would be a big, bold, beautiful, but highly unexpected, yet brilliant step toward justice in New York and our nation as a whole.
So huge long string of adjectives and insults like this son of a judge, just a piece of crap mother, you know, really just going after him and then saying, but you can fix it all. You can rehabilitate your image in the image of the courts in general, if you just get rid of it forever more begging the judge, this man, this disgusting, pathetic, weak little coward is begging the

You know, what's also funny about this story is that a couple days ago, actually, I think it was like Friday, maybe Thursday, but anyway, Donald Trump put on truth social that, uh, he has good information. That Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, was actually about to drop the charges against him. Literally days before the trial ends, Trump says, oh, people are saying that the DA is going to drop all the charges and it's gonna be done. Yeah, that didn't happen, neither is the judge going to just dismiss the case. Now that it's basically over, all that's left is to go in the courtroom, give closing arguments, give the jury their instructions, and then wait for their decision.
