Everyone lives inside their own self-imposed box of things they believe they ARE, things they believe they AREN’T, things they think they CAN do, things they think they CAN’T do. It constitutes their entire self-image The box is the thing that keeps you in self-doubt, keeps you lacking in self-trust, keeps you fixed in your comfort zone because nooOOOOO it’s too comfy and familiar here I don’t want to face fear or do anything different than how I usually do it, nooOooOO pleaaasseeee!!!!!! You think that this box keeps you safe and in control because it means you don’t have to face unfamiliarity, fear, and be vulnerable. But this box pulls an Uno reverse on you because IT is one controlling YOU and the way you live your life. Often in small and subtle ways that hold you back from experiencing the fullness of life So what does your box look like? It might be about caring about other people’s perception of you so much that you hold back from expressing yourself without an apology, or you try to appease other people It might be that you believe you aren’t capable of trying new things because you view yourself as an anxious person or ‘you’re just not someone who would go out and do XYZ’, and so you tell yourself ‘oh but I can’t do that….’ It might be that you view yourself as awkward, lazy, or insecure. You might think ‘bad things always happen to me’ or ‘people always treat me a certain way’ Whatever comes to mind, that’s the box talking. It’s the mind convincing you: ‘HEY, this is who you are. This is your identity. Now you shall agree to these things because you will always be the same and there isn’t anything you can do about it.’ And your whole life you’re like: ‘yeah… okay. this is me now.’ When you put it that way… how f*cked up is that???? But it’s just a box lol. It’s your machine-like mind and all of its ‘blah blah blahs’. Aren’t you bored of listening to it? You are whatever what you choose to believe you are.
