Here we have an odd one out in the single shot military black powder cartridge rifle series 'cos a Vetterli is a repeater innit!
This episode is simply to show what a repeater brings to the field especially in a situation where rapide fire may be necessary, whether the incoming horde makes a breakthrough or you're charging an enemy position. The advantage is only clear as long as you have ammo in your mag but with 12 (or 13) in there and with the possibility of topping off, it's quite a remarkable force multiplier at a time when most countries were getting to grips with the idea of single shot breechloading rifles.
The Bloke and The Chap take a look at a step in the evolution of the Swiss Federal Carbine 1851, aka Feldstutzer. The Chap happened across a Zurich 1848 prototype, one of several designs on the way from a pure target rifle to the 1851 Feldstutzer.
Of course, they take them both to the range and make some smoke.

The Chap takes a look at a Früwirth M1872 Austrian Gendarmerie Carbine. Not a Fruhwirth, Frühwirth, Fruwirt, Frühwirt or any other wierd spelling, but Früwirth. This was a critical developmental step on the way to the Kropatschek M1886, as discussed by Othias here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgUIV-5o6qI&feature=youtu.be
And a big hello to C&Rsenal fans who are discovering BotR on the basis of this video!

Since the Manky Mauser Kar98k had a somewhat extreme extractor that was giving him problems, Bloke took a file and a stone to it. Here's the whys and wherefores of what he did, and a discussion on controlled vs push feed.
There's a Lindybeige cameo in this vid too!

Since I had the very interesting book Verschlußsysteme von Feuerwaffen which contains the best diagrammatic representation of the difference between roller delay (e.g. HK G3 rifle) and roller locking (e.g. Vz.52 pistol), I took it upon myself to make a little addendum to Ian of Forgotten Weapons's videos on the subject.

The Chap takes his Dremel and his handiness to a Zastava M57 grip to make it fit his Tokarev TT33, and does a very good job of it. The Bloke is still unsure why he wanted to do this, and put a small public safety announcement at the start of the video as a precaution. Don't worry, we've had The Chap medically examined, and he's in as good health as he ever was.
Still not convinced about him not raiding the litter tray for smoking materials though...

Bloke takes a look at a BMS CAM rifle (specifically a CONCAM), a 5.56x45 / .223 Remington bolt action with an extremely small rotation angle of 22.5° and a very short bolt throw, kinda the ultimate "tactical" bolt action.
Uses NATO / STANAG magazines and... an AR15 bolt head and barrel extension!
