Tokyo Best Sakura Spot : Shakujii Kawa - 石神井川 - 4K Ultra HD
Tokyo Best Sakura Spot : Shakujii Kawa - 石神井川 : Tokyo counts many gorgeous cherry blossom/sakura spots that are all worth your time and attention if you do not mind the bustling crowds. But, away from the masses and mostly kept secret by many photographers and sakura specialists, there is a 2km long sakura wonderland that will literally blow your mind with its beauty and its total lack of tourists. Behold Shakujii Kawa!
Thanks to its ultra dense collection of sakura, it's river and many bridges, Sakujii Kawa is is by far, even taking into account the gorgeous blossoms along Naka-Meguro River, the most beautiful place to enjoy the sakura season in Japan! And to make things even more enjoyable, Sakujii Kawa is strangely ignored by both foreign and local tourists alike!
Have you ever wonder where most Japanese restaurants in Tokyo are purchasing those mouth-watering, but fake, sushi and ramen? Well stop wondering since they must have been probably been purchased in one of the many specialized stores in Kappabashi-Dori!
Located between Ueno and Asakusa, Kappabashi-Dori is almost entirely populated with shops specialized in supplying goods and other kitchenwares to Tokyo, and indeed Japan’s, restaurants and cafes.
These stores sells pretty much everything form the fake plastic display food to knives and even ovens and furniture.
To be fair, Kappabashi is not the most exciting tourist destination you may find in Tokyo. Nevertheless it is a place worth checking if you have an hour or two to spare, especially if you’ve ever dreamed of having your very own fake food sample.
Finally while it is still unclear from where this street gets its name, it’s similarity with the Japanese mythical creature “Kappa” or River child (河童) has made it the favorite choice of the shop owners for many years, and a few years back it became the official mascot of the area.

Here you are, the second part of our “virtual tour” of Tokyo’s famous Imperial Palace. Known in Japanese as Kōkyo Higashi Gyoen (皇居東御苑), the Imperial Palace’s east gardens are part of the inner palace, open to the public all year long. Here you will find the remains of the former Edo Castle in the form of the honmanru (main circle) and ninomaru (secondary circle) that were used to form the castle’s defense.
For several centuries, the Edo castle used to be home to some of the most famous Japanese Shoguns, including the Tokugawa shogunate who ruled Japan from 1603 to 1867, as well as the Emperor Meiji from 1868 to 1888.
While it is really unfortunate that the Japanese government has yet to rebuild the castle in its original shape, the surrounding area instead offers a quiet, gorgeous park where anyone is welcome. While you take a rest and enjoy the tranquility, it’s easy to forget that you are sitting in one of the most important historical and cultural sites in Japanese history.

The Nakameguro (Naka-Meguro) river and its many Sakura no longer require an introduction. In the past we’ve covered this area both by day and night. But, this year again we could not resist taking another video and sharing it with you an amazing pink night view of Nakameguro river and its Sakura!

Hello Kitty may not actually be the most famous Japanese cat after all! It all started in 1697 according to the legend. At that time, before the Gotokuji Temple was what it is now, a poor and lonely priest was living alone with his cat. One day, during a heavy storm a rich nobleman was stranded in a heavy rainstorm and took refuge under a nearby tree. Once settled the nobleman saw the priest’s cat at the Temple’s entrance signaling him to enter. Surprised, the nobleman followed the cat and as soon as he moved toward the cat a tree was struck by lightning. Believing that the cat had saved his life the nobleman decided to become the temple’s benefactor and soon the temple became prosperous.
As you must have guessed by now, the Maneki Neko are charms for good luck and prosperity not only in Japan but all across Asia and especially in China.
Just for this story alone, Gotokuji Temple is a “must see” when visiting Tokyo. Smaller than more famous temples around Tokyo, Gotokuji is unique for its design. It’s three-storied pagoda and Kyoto-like atmosphere give even more weight to this beautiful story of the Priest’s cat and the nobleman.

Cherry Blossom Photo Guide eBook "Tokyo No Sakura": Although widely spread in the Northern hemisphere, the sakura tree is nowhere as important as it is in Japan, where it holds the status of national flower. The abrupt transience of its blossoms, the delicate and ephemeral beauty of its flower has led Japan to associate the sakura tree with mortality and is therefore richly symbolic. The sakura flower can indeed be found in many aspects of the daily life in Japan: from the 100 yen coins, to dishware as well as on Kimonos.
All sakura trees are not made equal and, believe it or not, there are 200 different types of sakura trees in Japan! They differ by the flowering period, number of petals and each variety features flowers with a unique shape and colour, which ranges from white – often seen in Tokyo – to a deep pink. There is even a more yellowish variety known as the ukon family of sakura.

During the Edo period, the Inaba residence was the house of the local feudal lord and home of the Inaba Clan once they moved from Tokyo during the Meiji Period. The Inaba residence is a beautiful wooden structure set in a quiet garden in the middle of Usuki City.
Open to all as a museum, the Inaba residence offers visitors a unique way to experience what an old Japanese Lords residence was all about with its wide rooms and elegant interiors.

Built by the seventh feudal lord of the Uwajima domain, Date Munetada, also known as “Shunzan”, Tensha Park is a small garden located in the center of Uwajima city. Date Munetada used it for his own personal pleasure as a place for him to rest during his retirement.
Loved by Date Munetada, this little park takes its name after a poem written by Munetada. The poem goes as follows :
“I spent my younger days on a horse for battles, now the world is peaceful and my hair has turned gray, my aging body exists here because God in heaven forgave me and let me live."
