Barbie -- Does It Show Hollywood Is Returning to Proper Form or Just Doubling Down on Woke?
The wild success of Barbie is resulting in some very strange pushback from people who should know better -- especially those who claim to be long-term movie fans! Many complaining about the movie are old enough to remember Clueless and Legally Blonde at the very least! Let's see why Barbie is in fact a sign that Hollywood is returning to its proper form. --- Please "like" and "subscribe." --- Visit our other channels... which have occasional exclusive content exploring the YouTube Unfriendly side of Hollywood! Soviet Russia in the early days after the Russian revolution was home to numerous innovators, including Vertov (Man with the Movie Camera), Pudovkin (Mother), Kuleshov (his experiment with actors), Dovzhenko (Earth), and of course Eisenstein (Potemkin).
Meanwhile in Germany, the post World War I period brought great poverty but also great artistry as its film industry boomed with innovators such as highly stylized Expressionism (Cabinet of Dr. Caligari), Murnau (Nosferatu), Lubitsch (Madame DuBarry), Pabst (Pandora's Box), and the biggest of them all, Fritz Lang (Metropolis, M, Dr. Mabuse series).

The world of distribution is one that most writers, directors, actors, etc. are afraid to even approach. It is actually not bad at all, and once you get a handle of what distribution actually is, being creative is even less challenging. Knowing the truth will set you free!
We also go over some of the strategies you may use to get that all-important "foot in the door."
In the second portionl, we focus now on why coming up with a slate of projects rather than doing them one at a time is a smart business move.
THIS IS A REUPLOAD OF TWO VIDEOS ORIGINALLY UPLOADED IN EARLY 2019. THE CONTENT HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY REVISED TO KEEP IT RELEVANT FOR TODAY. JAPANESE MUSIC AND DRAMA TITLES: Original copyright owners have become FAR more strict with pulling down old uploads. For the time being, I am just putting up classic Japanese commentaries from the days of prime time movie showcases. These often but not always include embedded commercials from original telecasts I recorded. Depending on YouTube and the copyright holders' 's future policies, I may try uploading music and dramas again in the future.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was a shock hit for MGM and went on to make a fortune. Over time, though, it has spouted much controversy, especially in academic and culture critic circles as being unduly anti-feminist. We discuss whether that accusation is true, and what this means about the entire concept of censoring media. Meanwhile, we have fun discussing all the usual inside trivia and speculation not only about this film, but so many others like it.

This channel is dedicated to all sorts of content surrounding the entertainment industry. It was originally formed as a repository of content created for the California Community College Chancellor's Office Department of Economic and Workforce Development Doing What Matters Initiative. Running from 2013-2018, numerous events and assets were created to enhance anyone interested in entertainment as a career to find the best career pathways in. In order to support that effort, a series of videos were created that dealt with "below-the-line" or "crafts" positions, which are often not taught in regular curriculum.
The program further expanded to include digital assets that might be amusing to general students. Dan Watanabe, founder of this channel, was a grant director.

JAPANESE LANGUAGE CONTENT: Having attended high school in Japan, channel owner Dan Watanabe found this also to be a place where interesting tidbits from his days in Japan could provide a nostalgic backwards look for his former classmates -- as well as his current students. Further, this could be of cultural interest to westerners.

Horror stories have always been a staple of the holiday season ("A Christmas Carol," "Turn of the Screw," the tales of MR James, and even "It's A Wonderful Life.") So, with that in mind, we look over a collection of Japanese horror stories that became an unlikely but effective art film -- Kobayashi Masaki's "Kwaidan," an omnibus that predates such later fare as "Tales from the Crypt," "Dr. Terrors House of Horrors" and even "Dark Mirror." Ironically, these were based on the stories of a Greek ex-pat named Lafcadio Hearn, who became one of the Meiji Era's great experts on all things Japan. Part of the "Japanese Movies You've Never Seen" series.
