"Exercise Able Archer was an annual exercise by NATO military forces in Europe that practiced command and control procedures, with emphasis on transition from conventional operations to chemical, nuclear, and conventional operations during a time of war. When it was active, it was seen as the culmination of Exercise Autumn Forge. The exercise is best known for Able Archer 83, which began on November 7, 1983 and is believed to have nearly started a nuclear war with the Soviet Union." – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_Able_Archer
"NATO’s annual nuclear exercise gets underway: Air forces from across NATO will exercise nuclear deterrence capabilities involving dozens of aircraft over north-western Europe starting on Monday (17 October 2022). The exercise, which runs until 30 October, is a routine, recurring training activity and it is not linked to any current world events." – https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_208399.htm

· RETALIATE was previously used as the daily HFGCS callsign on November 18, 2022. It's probably their most attention grabbing callsign, but I think it's likely that callsigns are randomly chosen from a list of pre-approved callsigns and there's no special meaning to them.

Something worth documenting. The ASOS Brigade videos were uploaded to asosbrigade.com and also made available to torrent on various anime-associated sites in an attempt to encourage the people who'd normally torrent fansubbed anime to consider purchasing licensed dubs/subs – appeals were made along a variety of lines to encourage "downloaders/bootleggers who never buy the official DVDs" to become "fansub lovers who [also] buy the official DVDs and help support more creative works."
This video series and/or individual episodes gets reuploaded by someone to YouTube every few years and so far they've all been taken down (whether due to copyright strikes or otherwise, I don't know, but the bookmarks stop working). This is an edited reupload of a so-far successful reupload of the entire series, which I've done for a few reasons;
· Redundancy in reuploads hopefully means one or the other sticks around longer.
· The other reupload has included the "second series" of ASOS Brigade videos, which I have deliberately removed here. Not only does this have the benefit of making this reupload less likely to be taken down as the copyright holders seem far more aggressively protective of that series, the second series is rather awful. While it's informative in many ways – the 2007 series, as weird as it is, seems to represent _successfully_ expanding a fan/audience base while doing so in a controlled manner (i.e. successful gatekeeping), whereas the 2010 series seems completely uninterested in any sort of organization, serving merely as a platform for less clued-in newer fans to be catered to (i.e. systemic failure in gatekeeping) – this channel is not in the habit of preserving art and decadent trash in the same bucket.
· I have messed with audio levels a bit. The live action sequences have been normalized to 0 dB max peak, and the pseudo-OP/EDs have been normalized to a -10 dB max peak. I don't know much about sound mastering, and cannot justify this change on a technical level – this has been done to suit my personal preferences. I am aware of the drawbacks but don't particularly care, and those bothered are invited to do their own uploads/reuploads that undo this.
· Note that I have elected against uploading these episodes separately – in the case of what we might call a "hostile" copyright strike against this being reuploaded, copyright strikes are processed by number of uploads vs being processed as instances with a video – i.e. if I were to upload the episodes individually, each video could end up having having its own copyright strike and this channel would be taken down. Uploading them as an entire uniform video file means a maximum of 1 (one) copyright strike would be processed, which on its own does not jeopardize the channel.

07:29 EAM broadcast for TINFOIL. I hadn't recorded an EAM starting with EL (as opposed to 6G) since October 21st.
27:45 non-EAM recordings of USAF using frequency 9025 kHz. These signals might be ALE [AUTOMATIC LINK ESTABLISHMENT] but I'm not terrifically sure.

I stepped away from regularly monitoring the US Air Force EAMs back in February, but The Special Military Operation in Ukraine never ended – it has gone on months longer than many of us would've expected.
After "nuclear" began to seriously enter the rhetoric of both Russian and American politicians, diplomats, and spokesmen across the globe – and then particularly the Nord Stream bomb attacks on September 26th – it seems pertinent to return to paying attention to the airwaves again.
I won't be able to dedicate as much time to this as I did in February of this year, but I hope these videos can still be of some interest and/or value to folks.
