Wayfarer Plays Conan Exiles S01E0 1- Spawning in and Finding a Spot for a Base
Conan Exiles is a very balanced game. It has crafting, building, and a great combat system. This game combines creativity with survival in a powerful way. Wayfarer spawns into the game and proceeds to search for a good place to make a base for the first part of the overall adventure. After seeking a place in lands he did not explore before, a sudden death inspired him to start from an area that he knows pretty well. One has to look for a place where there are useful resources around, hunting grounds, and to start, enemies of a reasonable difficulty for the early days of the adventure.
In this episode of Ear worms, we will be making some crazy sounds using the Pink Trombone module in VCV Rack. This module is based on the web-based speech synthesizer of the same name developed by Neil Thapern. We won't get deep into the weeds, but people can see how the module works and how they can make some pretty outlandish sounds. We will also look at the famous episode of The Twilight zone, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet which stars William Shatner and Christine White. We will be doing some of our new regular segments as well, as we explore interesting music and try to determine what is real and what is AI.

In this episode, Wayfarer continues his multi-tasking approach to crafting and skilling. His main missions are to make small barrels, some basic tools that are useful early on, a small cart, and a large cart for storing and transporting items and resources. He covers a lot of ground in this episode, so it is a must watch for beginning Wurm players.

This week on Ear Worms, we will be dedicating our efforts to learning about and enjoying great music composed for the Theremin. We will look at the history a little bit, and then look at some perfomers and some of the great music that has been composed for the Theremin. The Theremin was invented in Russia by Lev Sergeivich Termen, also known as Leon Theremin in 1919. When Leon and his instrument made it to the United States, the music industry and Hollywood all took advantage of this great instrument. Performers like Clara Rockmore and Samuel J. Hoffman brought the performance to a whole new level. We will look at some of the films that were greatly uplifted by the instruments as well as some albums of music.

Decided by Whom is a collection of VCV Rack patches that explore the stretching, if not breaking of determinism at a perceptual level. While the patches have initial settings that mean that upon loading, the resulting musical output will always be the same, to the listener, they seem organic, alive, and full of beautiful surprises. In part 1, time warping is explored. Specific motives are maintained throughout, and the oscillation of time is consistently and regularly varied, but tot he listener, it is easy to find one's self in a continually evolving vortex of time manipulation that seems endlessly different with welcome recurrences of ideas.
This piece was composed in VCV Rack 1.x: https://vcvrack.com

This week on Ear Worms, we will be discussion two electronic musical instruments that were historical innovations in the design of instruments, speakers, and components. The instrument that we will be covering is the Ondes Martenot. this compelling instrument was invented by Maurice Marenot from France in 1928. This instrument had an impact on Western Art Muisc with composers like Oliver Messiaen. It was utilized in film music like that of English composer, Barry Gray. We will also look at the contributions of performers like Thomas Bloch and Jonny Greenwood. The instrument influenced many later instruments that would follow in its footsteps, and we will take a look at these as well.

In this episode we continue our tour through the KautenjaDSP brand of modules for VCV Rack. These free modules are a great way to emulate vintage video game sounds ranging from Nintendo NES, SNES, and Gameboy to Sega systems and even Atari. In this episode we look at the module that models the Atari Pokey chip that was utilized in their home entertainment systems as well as their arcade games. This is a free way to make music using classic 1980s video game sounds. We also revisit the Neutrinode module from Sha#Bang~ for executing the 4 tone generators simultaneously.

Now that I have been synthesizing bird sounds in VCV Rack, I think about the bird calls that I am hearing in the springtime. I'm not a bird expert, so I don't know what kind of bird this is, but ti would be a cool sound to make.

Building a house is one of the most monumental achievements that a learning player in Wurm can attain. There are a wide variety of materials and styles allowing for a great deal of creativity and artistry to your designs in Wurm. In this episode, Wayfarer starts to build a timber frame house and talks about the other house styles, the materials needed, and how to go about collecting materials effectively. He also demonstrates how to put up walls to begin the process. He takes a little time out to try to tame a pretty annoyed unicorn and nearly loses his life.
