December’s Cold Moon reaches peak illumination on
Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:37 P.M. EST.
December’s Cold Moon will take an unusually high trajectory across the sky.
Which will cause the full Moon to be visible for a longer period of time.
Mohicans called this full Moon the Long Night Moon
because it is closest to the longest night of the year.
The moon protected the earth billions of years ago.
"The Moon seems to have presented a substantial protective barrier
against the solar wind for the Earth, which was critical to Earth's
ability to maintain its atmosphere during this time," said physicist Jim Green, Chief Scientist at NASA
“Without the Moon the tilt of the Earth’s axis would vary more, with potentially strong climatic effects,” Kaare Aksnes professor emeritus at the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo.
So without the moon to steady Earth's orbit, life on earth would not be possible.
That means the moon is really the mother to all life on the Earth.
