Title: The Telephone Booth Indian
Author: Abbott Joseph Liebling
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Fiction:Historical
Description:From Publishers WeeklyIn its homage to America’s most rakish hucksters, Broadway’s Library of Larceny series reissues this collection of irreverent low-life pieces penned by Liebling, a mid-century fixture at the New Yorker renowned for his intimacy with con culture. Originally published in 1942, this sinewy compendium opens the door to the gritty underworld of grifters, showmen and hustlers from a bygone era of deadpan humor, decadent bonhomie and vigorous one-upmanship. With affectionate aplomb, Liebling introduces us to the colorful if unscrupulous denizens of Broadway’s Jollity Building, whose names alone are reminiscent of Garbage Pail Kids Paddy the Booster, Acid Test Ike, Lotsandlots, Judge Horumph, Count de Pennies and Marty the Clutch (so named for his custom of mangling people’s fingers when he shakes hands with them). The telephone booth Indians moniker refers to promoters so pressed for cash that they must conduct their wheeling and dealing from one of the lobby’s eight coin-box phone booths. While it’s riveting to learn about the humble, hardscrabble beginnings of the Shubert (yes, as in theater) brothers, what’s most memorable about this masterpiece is the nostalgia Liebling evokes in his reader for larger-than-life characters such as the sartorial peacock Roy Wilson Howard, a newsman whose self-control on the telephone Liebling irresistibly likens to that of a fat woman waving away a tray of chocolate eclairs. With a foreword by critic and Low Life author Luc Sante. Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. Review“Liebling remains the nonpareil.” —Anthony Lewis
Title: The Golden Prince
Author: Rebecca Dean
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Fiction:Historical
Description:From Publishers WeeklyAt the outset of Deans solid historical, the highly arranged life of the 17-year-old prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII, takes a drastic turn. One day in May 1911 while speeding in his motorcar, the prince, known as David, hits a young woman, Rose Houghton, riding on her bicycle near her home, Snowberry Manor. He rushes Rose to the manor house, where he falls almost instantly in love with her youngest sister, Lily. David spends much time at Snowberry, where he can pretend to be an ordinary man. He proposes to Lily, but his father, George V, refuses to allow the marriage. When David threatens to abdicate his right to the throne, Lily must choose between her own well-being and that of England. Besides creating a complicated lead in the prince, Dean (Palace Circle) deftly balances an array of well-drawn characters. Only the cartoonish villain, Captain Cullen, rings false. (Dec.) (c) PWxyz, LLC. ReviewWith her insight into the era, Dean brilliantly depicts the man and England so well that readers will believe they are part of the whirlwind that was 1911 England. Through her elegant prose and vibrant descriptions, that world comes to life. --_The Romantic Times_ Well researched and well written, this is romantic historical fiction at its best. --_Library Journal_
Title: Warrior Priest of Dmon-Li

With Miko and Jiron beside him, he faces incredible challenges, both in battle and in reasoning. Their very survival will depend on how well he meets these challenges. From the AuthorWhy did I decide to write The Morcyth Saga? I suppose the main reason was due to the many series which were currently popular at the time. Series that in the beginning grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go, but then over time began to lose momentum in a mire of subplots and overlong descriptive paragraphs which I found myself skipping. When I realized I was skipping pages at a time to pass through a subplot that didn't really move the story along to get to the what I would consider the `good points' (action, adventure, actually seeing the main characters) I figured I could do better. So I set out to write a series in which the reader followed the main character 90% of the time, action or points of interest were in every chapter, and descriptive content was down to a minimum. As a reader I knew I could create my own visualization of surroundings and figured others could to. I mean, do you really need me to go in depth as to what a teenage boy's room looks like? Doesn't `messy boy's room' bring up an instant visual? Stuff like that is what I mean. Certainly there are those who prefer grand descriptive content and a myriad of plots that takes a notepad to keep track of. To them I would say The Morcyth Saga is not for you. As to the story itself, I was a role player decades ago in high school. And I got to thinking about how interesting it would be should a gamer be thrust into a world in which his gaming experiences could help him thrive. After all, if you take a person from our world and thrust them into a world of magic, wouldn't it be helpful to select someone who would be more amenable to the prospect of magic? Perhaps one whose very interests were along those lines? That was how James came into being, a high school senior who loves creating and then running his friends through his creation. The Morcyth Saga and The Broken Key Trilogy are both written along gaming lines. The Morcyth Saga is about a gamer that is thrust into a world of magic while The Broken Key is written in role playing style. You can check out excerpts, maps, and other information about both series at my website. If you have never read one of my books before, I would suggest checking out the excerpts before you buy so you can make sure you like it.
