pentagonplane
For over 14 years there has been a growing conflict within the 9/11 truth movement regarding the plane that was said to have hit the Pentagon building on 9/11. Because this strong disagreement has been more divisive than any other single issue in the history of our movement, and because speculation and lack of consensus harm our credibility, there is need for resolution. There are a number of understandable reasons for the initial uncertainty regarding the events at the Pentagon on 9/11. In the aftermath of the fireball, there was an unusual lack of large and obvious plane wreckage visible outside the Pentagon, as is normally seen at most plane crash sites. Yet many witnesses saw the plane impact the building. As a result, there were inconsistent witness statements that lead to confusing early reports from sources like the Associated Press. There was also an initial lack of video and photographs of the plane impact. In the following days, there were mistaken interpretations of a few early photographs of the pre-collapse exterior of the burning Pentagon façade. In the resulting ambiguity and chaos, speculation grew. One of the first theories that emerged argued that a truck bomb, not a plane, caused the damage at the Pentagon. Months later, new speculation asserted that it was a missile that struck the building. Later, other theories emerged, including impact by a Global Hawk, an F-16, an A-3 Skywarrior, a small commuter jet, a 737, and later, a flyover and planted explosives. These various theories are all, at least in some key respects, mutually exclusive. These theories are also at odds with....
The vast majority of the 180 known Pentagon witnesses.
The evidence from the long damage trail, revealed in the many photographs of plane wreckage found inside and outside the Pentagon building.
Many photographs of at least a dozen damaged obstacles – including five light poles and the massive generator trailer – all of which were directly in the plane’s approach path.
The various speculative theories also conflict with photographs, video, and the extensive professional analysis of the Pentagon Building Performance Report.
Over the last decade, FOIA requests have resulted in the release of revealing new information and data, including more surveillance camera footage, the “black box” data from the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) which was found among the wreckage inside the Pentagon, the combined radar data of American Airlines Flight 77, and the ATC (Air Traffic Control) recordings related to that particular flight. Interestingly, the evidence and data from these diverse sources agree remarkably closely with one another.
Despite this progress, internal strife between those supporting the many conflicting speculative theories not only continues undiminished, it increases whenever new theories come along. The ambiguity and lack of accord within our movement leaves us vulnerable to legitimate criticism.
However, there is increasing hope for resolution. The same kind of science-based approach that Steven Jones, David Chandler, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, and many others have used to examine the WTC evidence is now being used to examine the Pentagon evidence. A growing body of scholarly papers on this subject has been published.
Unfortunately, those papers are not widely read within our movement, and many of our fellow truth seekers do not even know that they exist. Few even know of the abundance of evidence those papers are based on, including photographic, video, analysis of instrument data, and statistical analysis of the testimonies of the 180 Pentagon witnesses that are on record.
