Follow Along Practice Session with Master Rubin - Female Self Defense Against Hit/ Slap to the Face.
In today’s video, we will share strategies and defense technique against a hit or slap to the
face. We will learn why would someone hit /slap you in the face and how should you react to
the situation and how to defend yourself by taking control. All this is designed in a follow-along session format with a practice session included at the end.
The Technique:
When the attacking hand comes towards you, raise your hand on the attacking side (close to
the attacker’s hand) to block the hand and step forward with the opposite leg. This will stop
the hitting/ slapping arm and open the opposite side of the attacker for you to hit them. In
some cases your life could be at risk and (depending on the situation) you can apply counter
the attack which could involve holding the attacker’s head or neck in your raised hand as it will
be close to their head anyways and can hit back with your other hand or elbow to their jaw/
on the nose or simply punch them in the face which may give you enough to take the next steps.
As you can see in the video, even young children can learn and apply these steps. Roha is
learning from Master Rubin and is applying these techniques (for children to watch and
follow-along these steps).
The Practice Session:
You should find a partner to practice the techniques shown in the video and all the upcoming
videos. Practicing these will help you become comfortable with these and will train your
hands and eyes and will develop muscle coordination.
For safety, it is important to set up rules in advance. Decide who will be the attacker and who
will be the defender.
For both of the partners to learn at the same time alternate the roles. The first person attacks
first and second one defends and then alternate whereby the defendant becomes the attacker
and the first person defends.
