It's hard when we go through tests of our faith, especially when it leads to failure on our part. We naturally feel ashamed and guilty. But why would God allow these things to happen in the first place?

Reaching everyone and converting hearts is the passion of RLCC. Together we want to do this through the MP4 Strategy. We used to do this regularly before the pandemic. But when the pandemic hit, we were forced to stop. Now, we are bringing it back as a church. Let's rally together and fulfill our calling to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20).

The True Importance of Faith | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:27-31)
We all tend to rely on ourselves when it comes to our relationship with God. We may not say it outright but, whenever we fail, we blame ourselves. We feel unworthy before the Lord. Sometimes we may even walk away from God because of shame. Why? Our focus is still on ourselves and what we can do to make ourselves righteous before God. We must understand the true importance of faith.

The Church as The Bride of Christ | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 20, 2022
Text: Psalm 45:1-17 (cf. Hebrews 1:8-9)
The Bible uses different metaphors to describe the relationship between Jesus and the church. One of them is the metaphor of "bride". Thus, the church is called the "Bride of Christ". As the "bride", the church is waiting for the official "wedding ceremony" that will happen when Jesus finally returns. In the meantime, what does it mean to be the "bride of Christ" today?

Text: Luke 11:37-54
Being a spiritual leader is a great opportunity to do something good. But it is also both a duty and a danger. The duty of taking care of God's people is of course very important. The Lord wants us to shepherd His people according to His will and purpose. But doing so can also be dangerous, especially when we do not pay attention to our own hearts. We can end up hindering God's work rather than promoting it.

Central Idea: “Being a spiritual leader is both a duty and a danger.” (“Ang pagiging espirituwal na lider ay kapwa tungkulin at panganib.”)
What are the dangers of being a spiritual leader?
Two Dangers
1. When we focus too much on external appearances rather than on our souls (vv.37-44).
2. When we focus too much on the letter of the law rather than on God's real intentions for His word (vv.45-54).

A Higher Kind of Love | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (Luke 6:27-36)
What is the main difference between a true disciple of Christ and those who are not? It's not their external appearance. They probably look the same. It's not even their activities, for both believers and unbelievers can look very religious on the outside. The main difference between the two is the kind of love that each can exhibit. Of course, those who do not acknowledge Christ can still exhibit love. But the true disciple of Christ can exhibit a higher kind of love.

Learning to Listen to Jesus | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. 31 They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.) 34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” 36 When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at that time what they had seen. (Luke 9:28-36)
Being a disciple of Jesus is not just about going through the motions of attending church every Sunday or attending Bible studies. Good as they are, they are not the essence of following Jesus. The essence of following Jesus is learning how to listen to Him. This is what we need to learn. Each and every day, this must be the desire of our hearts, to learn how to listen to Jesus.
