The game features an all-star cast of various characters from various video game franchises, from fighting game mainstays (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken), to popular gaming franchises (Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog), and even including popular culture mainstays (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball) as well as older fighting games series (Kaiser Knuckle, Fighter's History). Akuma, a recurring character from the Street Fighter franchise, is used in this playthrough. This game is a traditional 2D fighting game - the game at it core plays more or less like the Street Fighter series of fighting games, with six buttons of varying strengths (three for punches, three for kicks) and a total of three bars of meter, with EX special moves ("Enhance Specials") taking up half a bar and super attacks taking one bar. However, Super World Warriors have several unique universal mechanics that make this fangame stand out. These mechanics are enveloped inside what is known as the "Warrior System". The Warrior Counter (LP + LK) is a counter-styled attack which, upon successfully working, stuns the enemy for a period. Meanwhile, the Warrior Fury (MP + MK, requires one bar of meter) is a super attack where you beat up your opponent ranbu-style before launching them and causing a wall-bounce (allowing for combo extensions), and the Warrior Spirit (HP + HK, requires one bar of meter) creates a spirit copy that follows you and copies your attacks (albeit delayed), with any additional attacks made by this copy dealing 50 more damage than usual. Some characters have the Warrior Shield (HP + HK, requires one bar of meter) instead, which protects you for up to five hits. Anyways, the game's story is only explained in the manual. Mr. Karate (from the Art of Fighting series), while thinking of a way to make a tournament without the, uh... supernatural shenanigans going on in tournaments portrayed in the King of Fighters series, meets Sheng Long (a character hoax originating from the Street Fighter series), who together hosts a fighting tournament where they would fight the winner. Your character basically enters said tournament in their arcade mode run and beats the crap outta the two (and M. Bison from Street Fighter for some reason). One final note: Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu/Raging Demon super attack (traditionally LP LP 6 LK HP, requiring all meter/special resources) in this game requires motion inputs here (214214P, requires one bar of meter). While I would admit that Shizune is (design-wise) pretty cute, on a gameplay standpoint she isn't as good. For a start, her punch/kick variants of her Kimi special (214P/214K, Shizune spins backwards before spinning back forward, attacking the opponent in the process) only has a few frames of invincibility. While this is standard business for invincible reversals in general, the follow-up attack takes a while to come out, making this move unviable as a get-off-me attack. As a blockstring ender, this move is slow enough to give the opponent time to react too, assuming their reaction time is fast. Being unsafe on block does not help things either, also allowing the opponent to punish you if they block the attack. The rest of her kit has some standout tools, but is, for the most part, pretty meh. Heavy Kimi (214H) can be used as a backdash during blockstrings, Shiun Double Kick (236K/H), Tsukikage (236P), and Yuki-tori (22P/H) serve as your combo enders (with the Heavy versions of Shiun Double Kick and Yuki-tori launching the opponent high enough for follow-ups), and Falcon Drop (22K) is an anti-air grab attack. Her Aiki Throw (236T) is an advancing grab attack (thus, you could abuse it to cheese the AI since they almost never block on wakeup), but her other grab moves aren't as notable. Anyways, I did an early playthrough using Shizune (in order to get used to her before recording the real thing), lost a match once, and still managed to face Yayoi Oribe as the final boss. I guess that "EXTRA battle" is this game's codeword for final boss, as requirements for fighting her isn't locked behind having perfect wins? (featuring Ryu (yes, that Ryu from Street Fighter) and Tommy Oliver) A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to y'all, I have been busy as of late hence the lack of uploads. This game was a pain to get to (it's not available in my region because allegedly (still not sure if this was the actual reason behind this) the original Super Sentai shows (the shows Power Rangers were based upon) were all around East Asia - for regions like Japan, true, but in Indonesia I come across more Power Ranger merch compared to their original Japanese counterparts. I guess the easy way out is to blame Lionsgate Games and nWay for being retarded, and to snatch the Microsoft Store/Xbox Game Pass version of the game, since setting up an account from a different region there is easier than in Steam. It's a shame this game was region-locked from East Asia, because for essentially a licensed indie game with a low budget, the game plays exceptionally fun. The bulk of the game's combos involve long ones - most being a true Touch of Death combo, but even basic combos that could erase half of a character's health instead of all are fun and satisfying to do. It also has cross-play with the other versions of said game - Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and other PC copies could now duke it out as their favorite Power Rangers also with the smooth connections one could expect from decently-made rollback netcode. Overall, graphics is meh and availability fucking stinks, but the gameplay and netcode carried it far enough to the point that I would recommend this game if you like long combos as well as the jank you get from typical 3v3 games. Arcade Mode follows the story of the first chosen character. All-Star Battlemania 3 is the third entry of Hyper Crisis's crossover fighting game series. Originally released around 2021, the game was originally made as the developer's magnum opus, but wasn't updated any further beyond version 0.1, and would be later canceled and delisted during 2023 (with their account also being deleted) due to mental issues and Hyper Crisis being too busy in college. With Hyper Crisis eventually returning after graduating from college to create a new All-Star Battlemania reboot scheduled for a 2024 release, this leaves this game as the latest iteration of the series. So, what did we miss? All-Star Battlemania 3 pits several characters from various video games and media against each other, with Ragna the Bloodedge, the main character of the BlazBlue series of fighting games, being used in this particular playthrough. The gameplay influenced from the Super Smash Bros. series of platform fighting games, with attacks (C) and special moves (V) executed with a button and a directional input, the ability to dodge (done by pressing forwards/backward + Z) and air dodge (forwards/backward + Z in the air), knockback accumulating as you deal enough damage, as well as super attacks (a "finalmania") being done by pressing the special button without pressing a direction. The game also borrows mechanics from traditional fighting games - like previous All-Star Battlemania games, health is used instead of lives (or the percentage-based knockback system in most platform fighters). In addition, some characters have airdashes, and some characters automatically turn around to face the opponent. Other gameplay mechanics includes the ability to sprint by holding the sprint button (Space). New to this game is the ability to wavedash, done by air dodging diagonally into the ground, which causes your character to slide. This technique is a faster approach method at the cost of being (in theory) tricky to perform, but jumping and air dodging as you land also seems to trigger the slide. All-Star Battlemania 3 simplified the stages, with most stages being a flat area with no blast lines. The game was also left in an unfinished state (then again, this is version *0.1* we're talking here), with the CPU simply approaching you and attacking you using normal attacks, instead of making full use of their moveset (such as using special moves). This makes zoning in particular more optimal to use against CPU players, as escaping from enemy attacks is a bit annoying due to hitstun. Of course, you too can lock your opponent with certain attacks - you can spam the first hit of Ragna's standing normal attack chain, as the window to follow up with subsequent attacks (which is normally done by mashing C) is quite tight. It is rather unfortunate Hyper Crisis abandoned this game, as all this makes this entry of All-Star Battlemania feel rather cheap and easy to exploit (thus making playing this game quite boring, despite its improved presentation compared to l. Here's to hoping that the All-Star Battlemania reboot would be better, though. Arcade Mode has you fight against seven (mostly random) opponents, with bonus stages ("Break the Targets" and "Race to the Finish", straight up from Smash Bros.) after every three battles, your fifth and sixth opponent being a pre-determined character and a shadow character respectively (somehow I felt that the shadow character was supposed to be buffed, but this wasn't implemented to the game). Your seventh opponent is one out of five random boss characters, with Galactus being our opponent in this playthrough. Other final boss characters include Giga Bowser and the Master Hand and Crazy Hand duo, as well as an unlockable boss character - Epiales (not shown here, although crisscrossgames (@crisscrossgames6940) made a video where they fight against Epiales) only unlockable by defeating all the other five bosses beforehand.
