Fascinator #005 - Wedding Photographer to Woodworker with Jessica Okonski (@ThisLadyWood)
On Fascinator 005 we talk to woodworker Jessica Okonski (This Lady Wood) who swapped hats during the pandemic, going from Wedding Photography to Woodworking, and now has her own workshop and business!
Jessica has some workshops coming up in Aug and Sept 2021 so if you're interested, head over to www.thisladywood.com/workshops-1
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS ASKED: What do you think is most fascinating about the process of woodworking or creating things out of wood? Coming into woodworking knowing very little about it, were there any pre-conceptions that you had that turned out to be surprisingly wrong? Are there many different methods/tools involved and are some much easier to use than others? Are there a lot of people who specialize in only certain types of object builds or do more woodworkers practice variety? (as far as you know) What is your favourite aspect of woodworking? If people are interested to get into this field, where can they start?
Robin F works in cancer research and joins Hat Collecting to teach us some things about that. A lot of information is packed into this episode so definitely tune in!

It's time to get Fascinated again! On Episode 004 we talk to podcaster Billie Schultz who hosts the Nothing to Fear podcast about Horror Movies! Lacey and Billie have a fun little chat about Horror movies and their culture, how it draws parallels to heavy metal music culture, how the genre has stayed fresh and evolved, and more!
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS ASKED:
What fascinates you most about horror movies? (whether as an isolated thing or even as a broader cultural phenomenon)
Are there official parameters or qualifiers for what counts as horror and what doesn't?
What is a misconception about horror films, or just something you think more people should be aware of?
Now having done a podcast about horror films for a while, and going into it pretty uninitiated, what are a couple of the biggest takeaways from your experience so far?
Are there any interesting new developments in the genre (or style) that you've noticed to help them stay somewhat fresh?
What is something you wish people would ask you about horror movies?
What is your favourite horror movie so far, if you can choose
Billie also appeared on episode #008 of Hat Collecting.
New "Fascinators" are released every other week in between episodes of the main show.

I guested on another podcast recently, check it out!
This podcast is typically just for members of the puttyverse website and community, but I was given permission to share it publicly.
Ted and Vanessa of the puttyverse interviewed me about my multipotentialite ways, my own podcast (Hat Collecting), and more!
You’re about to Learn…
-How Lacey discovered trying interviewing was the best way to find out if she would enjoy it.
-Did it feel natural for her to appear on camera, or did it take some getting used to?
-How Lacey’s ADHD necessitates a structure for her show, forcing an adaptation but with also just enough room for flexibility.
-That although her initial freelance experiment did not work out, it’s not something she’s giving up on.
-The value of a mastermind group in achieving our goals and being inspired by others.
-How she ended up on a podcast talking about artwork on sports equipment!
-Does Lacey actually collect hats? Like, real hats?
