Federal Signal 2001 SRN 2nd Gen (DC)│Livonia, MI│10.5.2022
After the successful test in Westland, I headed out to the Livonia DC but with a twist. I filmed it at Edward Hines Park, across Newburgh Lake, which is a man-made lake that was formed when Henry Ford put up a dam in the 1920s.
The echos were pretty astounding from across the lake.

Looks like Spartanburg's old RSH-10 has been de-throned by Pleasant Lake's RSH-10.
This was my 1st time seeing and hearing an RSH-10 in person and operating. I knew the deflector disc was having issues moving normally, but I did not expect it to be like the Thunderbeam Spartanburg, SC that had a really fast deflector disc like this one seen here.
This siren is located at the Henrietta Twp Clerk building: 11732 Bunkerhill Rd .

So, in hopes of not making this February test like last years, we went all the way to Spring Arbor, and then Bellevue in hopes of getting a hearing of their 100 Year old Erick Fire Siren. Although, we only heard the Model 5 that is really close by. We heard the FSK tones and even Morse Code shortly after the test while taking photos & Polaroids of it. When we heard the Model 5 go off, we thought it was the Erick at first, but its was really quiet if it was the Erick. I decided to go up to the Erick and to my surprise, the chopper was not moving. And then, smoke started pouring out of the motor as seen on the video. The siren was frozen and the siren does not have any motor protection. That kept the motor energized and the motor tried to spin the chopper. If they had kept that thing on longer, it would probably be up in flames. This is also the oldest siren I've recorded so far dethroning the Hula-Drone in Toledo as this Erick is 100 Years old!

After waiting for an hour, this thing actually went off.
A meetup was hosted here at this Thunderbolt. My original plan to go to Museum Dr Thunderbolt in Lansing was foiled thanks to the evil old EMA director who basically ruined the old system of Thunderbolts. As of now, the Thunderbolts await removal. I was still going to go to Lansing to see if their new 2001 Equinoxes would go off for the first time. But more people were going to go to Dansville, and it looked like that where all the fun was going to happen. So I decided to go to Dansville after the noon test at Pleasant Lake's Thunderbeam. So, we were all at Dansville, waiting for it to go off. 10 minuets in, nothing, 20 minuets in, we phone the Ingham EMA. 30 minuets in, a Fire Fighter arrives back to the station after a call (or how it seemed). 40 Minuets in, I contemplate why I went here and that I should've went to Lansing. 58 Minuets (basically an Hour), the Fire Fighter texts the EMA directors and then the Thunderbolt finally goes. Due to that, some of our cameras either died, or ran out of memory. I had to keep rewinding my tapes, and my handheld camera was on the brink of filling its 1GB Memory Stick. After all of that trouble, we finally got to hear a short, 30 second blast of the Thunderbolt. All that trouble, just for that.. I'm probably not going to do an Ingham siren for a while...
