Collaborating on the internet and digitally mixing each others tracks made me think to try this with aged but quality audio tracks from before the internet's time. I was pleased with the experimentations of my new go Go XLR mini and putting that through the Reaper DAW to come up with these results. The legendary Chicago Symphony Orchestra Low Brass recordings are still the standard of low brass playing today and to test myself I have begun comparing my playing to this standard to further my musical journey.
The actual CD has way better sound quality than anything you will find on the internet, I urge low brass students to purchase a physical copy for a supreme musical experience.
Final Fantasy Prelude - 9/5/2016
Transcribed for Solo Tuba
This music comes from the NES soundtrack for Squaresoft's Final Fantasy 1. The 8-bit track from the original game was converted from .nsf format to .midi and arranged in Lilypond open-source music notation software. The piece was dropped down 1 octave to better suit the tuba's stronger 5 octave range. The original track is an infinite loop and here is one statement of the full harmonic progression.

Here's my cover of the "Mini-Game 2" theme from Pictionary for the Nintendo Entertainment System, all parts played on Tuba! Composed by Tim Follin, 1990.
I chose to cover this song because it explores the limits of technical execution on my instrument. The constant motion in all parts even extends to the high solo parts above the staff.

Gau's Theme - Final Fantasy VI
Transcribed for Tuba, Harp, Flute and Synths.
This was a collaborative effort with Elvann and gamerofthewinds. I decided to use Nobuo Uematsu's idea of using a low instrument for playing the melody here but instead of cello I used my tuba. This is probably one of the only times you will ever encounter a tuba playing in this setting. Here is my cover of one of those themes from Final Fantasy 6, which was actually Final Fantasy 3 in the US, that you might miss because it's such a short theme. It's the one that plays right after you jump off from Baren Falls.

Convalescence Suite - Alec Wilder - Part I
V. Forcefully
The reason behind the title of this 18 movement suite is that the composer wrote this for his friend, Harvey Phillips, who was hospitalized during the first ever International Tuba Conference that he organized. It is written in the spirit of good vibes between musician friends even when recovering from illness. Here I am performing Part I of III, the first 6 movements of this suite.
