"Net Zero Health Care: MAiD for You" is a version of a FreedomTalk given by Michelle Stirling at a recent public event. The pivotal point is related to the politicization of science, as outlined in a commentary by Michael Crichton. Michelle reviews two aspects in this video. The first part addresses how she came to understand that the mental health system is unwilling to consider dissenting views on climate change or the impact of the Tar Sands Campaign on Albertan and Canadian workers - and on our economy. She sought counselling to help with her grief related to her brother's death by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). This leads to the second part of the presentation wherein the impacts of climate-addled thinking conflated with patient medical care in a declining economy means that governments are resorting to measures that will leave patients with little choice. One of those choices, in good economic times, might be Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) - IF appropriate safeguards and supportive living options are available. Unfortunately, "Net Zero health care" is now a reality in public policy circles, to the detriment and risk of the public, in Michelle's opinion. In Canada, the government has recently relaxed the legislation on MAiD and this talk contrasts Michelle's personal experience with MAiD, with what seems to be the direction today. In 2017, her brother Dr. Glenn Stirling chose MAiD, but he was offered many supports and it was not easy to be approved at that time. Today, with lockdowns, isolation, depression, and people being diverted or denied from timely medical care, it seems, in Michelle's opinion, that for many, they are being sentenced to MAiD. This is confirmed by a recent Deloitte study, "A Struggling System" commissioned by the Canadian Medical Association. With Canada's economy in distress, medical choices will be fewer; with Net Zero mandates and medical people conflating climate and saving the planet over patient care, there will be repercussions on the level of care.
