On July 4th at 6:20 a.m. I was doing my morning walk and noticed some movement down below at the lake. Sure enough it was a mother and some young ones. You will notice she saw me and went into evasive protective mother mode. I never saw them after this. It has been four years since I have seen any river otters around here because they tend to be rather stealthy.
The link at the end shows you the video of my first encounter with river otters four years ago. Be sure to check that one if you are interested in this since I got to spend more time with them.
There is nothing really here anymore of the once populated town of Aurora. Still, it is my favorite ghost town so I wanted to make a couple of videos of where it once was. The following blogs clarify some of the things said in this video:

Errata: One correction that I think I need to make here is that I think the gunfighter William Carder was actually killed at the Exchange Saloon. A very similar sounding place. Although, the irony is I was probably standing a lot closer to where he was killed with my back within feet of the Exchange Saloon site when I said that in the video. That saloon was by where the gray car is parked and the guy is standing at 4:52. I'll make a note of it in the next video. There is some ambiguity in the books I have on this and the reason for my mistake.

Alright, the grand finale! Your homework after watching this the first time is to watch it again to match up every single rock to the movie clip(s). Using the pause button will help you do that!
I'll link the three blog entries below that I use for this location, but a couple of clarifications first:
Two things I say about the movie in the video needs some correction. I refer to Joel's cowboys as the "posse". I was using that more as a generic description of a Joel's group. Usually, in the old west movies, a posse is authorized by the law to hunt down the criminals. In this movie, if my memory is correct, it is just bad cowboys trying to take over the cattle empire and good cowboys trying to stop them.
The other thing shows my bias about why I am not a big fan of the movie as a whole. I said they spent most of the movie on a town set. That is not really true. It felt like they did since the outdoor scenes they show for the cattle drives were unremarkable to me. I seem to remember they used some stock footage for a bunch of the cattle driving scenes. It wasn't until the very end they used the terrain in very cool way.

This is the mock-up connected with the planes they used in the movie. I was speaking "off the cuff" and really don't know if they will put it together again or what they intend to do with it.
The reason I made note of the Oct. 1st date is they had just gotten it back from being on location for the movie at that time.
I was going to upload what I had from Oct. 1st, but other than the beginning picture I just went with what I took this morning at Planes of Fame in Chino, CA.

This is just the drive that sets up and prepares you for my next video. Please note the length of this video (almost 18 minutes) and the next video (almost 23 minutes) are the longest I have done. This video I do not care as much about as the next one which is the "payoff" video. But, you might want to wait until you have the "right time" to watch it all at once after I upload it on Halloween.
I do have the "Offroad Drive: Descending..." which I will link as unlisted after Halloween. It is sort of a "throw a way video" I did. All unlisted videos I do are alternative videos or additional supplemental videos I do not care too much about, but I like to put them up once in while as an extra. Someone out there might have an interest in them. As an aside, the drive up, the next video, and the descent video make up about an hour of video! A few years ago I never thought I would do videos that long!
