The Green Renaissance team spent two hours before work one morning, demonstrating how easy it is to gather and prepare some tasty chestnuts. Go out and try it yourself.
Filming Tip – Be spontaneous. We decided to film this clip, half an hour before heading out – the weather was great and the chestnuts had just started to ripen. It isn’t always necessary to overthink and plan each shoot – the real magic sometimes happens in these unexpected moments.
'Everything today seems to be so manipulated and plastic. We yearn for something that is powerful, true, and genuine. Animals are honest. Around animals, you feel like you grow. It feeds your soul.' - Warren
Warren loves animals, and over the years has looked after many rescued and abandoned horses. He has a deep connection with these special animals and shares his story of how they have helped change his view of the world around him.
We, Green Renaissance, make these short films as passion projects, to share inspiration. You can help us make more films like this by making a tiny donation, so we can continue this journey with you - www.patreon.com/greenrenaissance

Life consists of polarities – light and dark, good and evil, sweet and bitter. We are no different. All of us have a shadow side. And it is this shadow or dark side that allows us to gain a sense of perspective, by allowing us to truly appreciate the light side of life. The more we acknowledge what we don’t like, the easier it is to see our gifts and strengths. It makes us a whole human being.
"There was a man who was so disturbed by his own shadow that he was determined to lose it for good. So he got up and ran. But his shadow kept up with him, and so he ran faster and faster until the exertion took its toll and he dropped. If he had simply stepped into the shade, sat down and stayed still [meditated], his shadow would have vanished." -Chuang Tzu, The Way

While browsing for old Nikon lenses in antique stores in Long Street, Green Renaissance met The Collector – a man with a real passion for cameras. He has built up a collection of more than 1000 cameras over the years. We were lucky enough for him to invite us to his home (not open to the public) to view his impressive collection. He reaffirmed how important it is to do what you love.
Film Tip/Trick: Always be prepared to film – in this case, upon meeting him, we went directly to his home to spend two hours filming. Also, when interviewing, purposefully create pauses between your questions - this allows you to capture the awkward, real moments that occur between answers from your character.

All too often life can feel like a competition to see who is the busiest. Our lives are filled with rushing, stress, anxiety and exhaustion. Being overworked has become a marker of success, and it’s difficult to resist getting caught up in the wave. We're less in tune with our bodies and minds and there's little time left over to simply 'be'.
We don’t need to live life at breakneck speed. There is so much joy and wonder surrounding us in our daily lives - we just need to stop and take time to notice it. And it’s then that we realise that beauty truly is everywhere.

The last few weeks have been a roller coaster of intense emotions. All of us, all over the world, have had to start to change the way we do things. Many have cut back on travel plans, some are avoiding crowded spaces, and most have dropped handshakes and hugs for elbow bumps and foot shakes.
As hard as it might be for some of us right now, it seems that what we need is more empathy, understanding, and compassion for one another. Most of us are some version of scared – this is a change and a big change. Like with any change, we don’t know what will happen and how it will turn out. But what we do know for sure, is that we can’t really do too much without each other.
WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

Change is like a river: nothing stays the same, because life as we know it can change in an instant. We never know what’s around the bend and we can’t control everything in life. As much as you prepare and plan, some things still won’t go your way. So why do we keep expecting them to?
When you learn how to embrace change, you’ll find that the uncertainty of life feels a little less scary. Live in the moment, cherish the people we love, and appreciate what's happening right now. And when we do that, life becomes an unexpected adventure, filled with unimaginable joy.
