In a Minute: Vacuum Tube Dual Pentodes in 60 Seconds
For when you need to learn about dual pentodes but you’re running short on time! If y’all have any ideas for topics you’d like to see covered in just 60 seconds, let me know in the comments!
In this episode, we take an in-depth look at a cool old oscilloscope I got my hands on – the Telequipment D52. It’s a pretty late model scope featuring dual traces, and a mixture of tubes and transistors. It’s so gorgeous inside, I couldn’t help but get a lot of beauty shots!
Here’s the manual if y’all want to check out the schematic: http://w140.com/tekwiki/images/4/4e/Telequipment_D52_S52.pdf

I ain’t done traveling the country, looking at old computers just yet. There was one more stop I absolutely had to hit, so I bought a plane ticket, flew back up to Maryland, and found myself at one of the coolest computer museums in the country – System Source. Hop on along as we take a quick look through Bob’s unbelievable collection of stuff!

Let’s build some logic gates without using any silicon at all! In this episode of “In a Minute” we build an XOR gate and an XNOR gate using just two 6AL5 dual diodes and one 6DJ8 dual triode.

We’re back out in the garage, working on the Centurion again, and this time, we’re going to try to get the Finch drive spun up! Although, the key word here is “try.” We aren’t exactly successful, but, well, you’ll have to watch to find out exactly what’s going on with it. Also, don’t forget to check out the Wiki linked below for a ton of excellent information on the Centurion!

My PDP-11 story is a weird one. I found myself with too many PDPs, so I had to thin the herd, which left me without a running PDP-11. The goal for today was to fix that by bringing up a PDP-11/23, but the power supply had other plans. After a full week of troubleshooting, I emerged from the room defeated. But just what went wrong? Well, let’s dive in and find out!

This is an episode I’ve been wanting to do for a while, because I absolutely love neons! Sure they’re gorgeous to look at and a modern LED can only dream of putting out such a good looking glow, but they’re also have some incredibly unique characteristics that we can exploit to build some really, really cool stuff. So tag along as we learn how neons work and what makes them special, as well as builing some circuits to test them out.

Kevin over at Texelec.com reached out to me recently and said he had a computer I might be interested in. Upon seeing pictures of it, I was extremely interested! But, maybe not for the most apparent reason. The little Litton is one of the coolest machines from the late 60’s / early 70’s I’ve seen, but more importantly, it has an incredible link to the Centurion! So, hop on along as we explore this system and dive into that link a little more.
Oh, and check out Kevin’s shop, it’s awesome!
